He said: "He (Beckham) cannot kick with his left foot, he cannot head a ball, he cannot tackle and he doesn't score many goals. Apart from that he's all right."
 - That was George Best

It pretty much sums up my view on Beckham...nothing special, just average

Yeah a good MLS player, but people expected a phenom. Other than publicity, do you think it was worth the trade?

hell no.

Beckham has the best cross in recent memory. Thats his value. A player who can put the ball wherever he wants whenever he wants is worth $...no matter what else is wrong with him.

yeah that's a good point. but originally, the americans who don't know a whole lot expected the 20+ goal seasons, the fancy dangles, the flash etc. But does anyone see any promise from in the future or is it his decline?

all he can do is cross and freekicks here and there

waste of money, more for publicity

You'd accept $250 million in 5 years too. Don't fuck him. He didn't do anything wrong.

his one good aspect is that he can put a ball spot on every time...other than that, I don't like him.

I haven't paid much attention to him, but the Galaxy have done better and are scoring beautiful goals. Beckham has been in quite a few tough situations with the opposition so it's not like it's a freebie.

Beckham v West Ham; tonight.

EDIT:

Beckham is playing great. His passes in the first half were a little off, but now in the second half it really looks like he is having fun. Taking free-kicks, and getting really close. I hope he scores, he has entertained the crowd a lot and deserves it. Great player and he is really showing his love for the game and just having fun, and forgetting about everything else.

Way to go Becks!

what do u think would happen if he were to let a fan from the stands just drop down and give him head?
would it hurt or help soccer? cause seriously, i think it would be all over the news, and people in the states
would actually start giving a shit like damn , crazy stuff happens in the MLS, maybe diane we should go
to a game every once in awhile. Just like the whole zidane thing gained recognition
bad publicity is good publicity ya dig

Haha, what an egg. Voted 2nd best player in the world one season and 100 caps for a top nation and he is just average? No, that doesn't happen in football Seal.

2nd best player in the world is a huge accolade. Do you realise the players season in season out who don't get anywhere near that award? Bergkamp never did that, Klinsmann never did, neither did Batistuta. People like Stoichkov are in his company...so yes, I will use it in my argument, thanks.

do you even watch mls? Hes hardly lighting it up....hes among the top 20-30 players, but hes not dominating or doing anything particularly special. Hes nowhere close to being the best player in the league, and he isn't gonna get much better either...

he does EVERYTHING right.  i was at the fc dallas v. la galaxy game yesterday.  he looked very impressive in an extremely unflattering game.

in the mls allstar game beckham never took anyone one on one. he always just got the ball and passed it right away, even if noone was on him. but i have to admit that he makes REALLY REALLY good passes. they are always on the mark.

yeah but nothing particularly special...he does the right thing every time, sends the right balls, sends them on the mark....but then, we all knew that already...hook was acting as if Beckham was dominating/tearing it up, which hes not.

not that that is necessarily all he does

he may not look like a "dominant" player, but he is on a whole other level

Hmm. It's not special that he "does the right thing every time, sends the right balls, sends them on the mark." If you honestly agree with that, then you have serious problems.

No I agree with it, except he has been doing that for his entire career. Hes not standing out more in the mls than he did in Britain or Spain, for example. Thats more what I meant.

lol..... beckham is by far one of the best passes of the ball the world has seen, those of you who play or have played at a standard will now how important set pieces are which beckham is amazin at...... also beckham didnt move to mls to be a great player or a better player. He went to boost the profile of soccer in the u.s, beckham is still a good player and does some very important things in games, but unfortunetly people get older and younger players get better. Not many people took notice of mls before he went, now look.... it is gettin more interest than ever before, and most of that is from the guy we are on about david beckham
