I'd rather be like Barca and do both (except this year....they flopped on the trophy winning side of things )

i think the "arsenal plays such good football" is a bit overrated. i find it quite annoying how they can play in the first 2/3rds the pitch, but suck dick in the final third. i personally don't find it that entertaining, and don't quite understand why people jump on the aresenal play great 3rd place football bandwagon.

What trophies do Chelsea win?  Man U are the ones winning trophies.  Usually if you play the best football you win trophies.  Unless you're italy....And Arsenal has won their share of trophies.  Just have to bounce back after losing big players.  The young players are gaining experience and I think they'll be closer to challenging for the Premier League.

Don't be a whiner and complain how Arsenal didn't win anything and say they played the best football.

I like Chelsea.  Thus there are some Chelsea fans :booty:

You can't be serious.

Ok Arsenal have won just as many trophies in the last eight years as Chelsea, and if you go back further they've won a shitload more.  So yes, what trophies?  As far as clubs in England go, Chelsea doesn't have a vast trophy cabinet.

Because the Arsenal of about 5-4 years ago actually played to win and knew how to finish in the final 3rd. Now its seems this Arsenal is looking for the perfect goal. How many games that Arsenal could have easily won last season but they lost. Because they lack execution in front of goal.
Arsenal fell off the moment Vieira departed. And its been Chelsea ever since.

They scored more goals in the premier league than Chelsea it seems.  And they allowed fewer.  They were only two points behind Chelsea.  Doesn't seem like Arsenal did too bad to me.....In fact with those stats they should have been in front of Chelsea... :nopity:

In a season where Chelsea was going under great change. They still shattered Arsenals title hopes at the Bridge. Chelsea went into the final weeks with a real shot at the Prem title. Might I also add two finals Champions league and Carling cup finals. We still had a much better season than Arsenal even tho Chelsea where had a bad season. Don't get me wrong I love how Arsenal play and wouldn't mind seeing them do better next season. But Wengers signings are average for a club competing for major trophies.

Compare Arsenal with Tottenham or Blackburn not Chelsea.  ;)

I still think they have every chance of winning.  He tries to sign the stars of tomorrow rather than the stars that have already established themselves like Chelsea does.  Look at his targets, Nasri this year..Hleb two or three years ago...Adebayor...He's had van persie forever.  He's got a bunch of talented players who may not be the big names, but they can definitely play.  Look at Van Persie now.  Arsenal lost their two big captains but that doesn't mean they haven't been competing for the title every year.  Except two years ago.  They still finished fourth,  which i believe is better than the final third.  They have been in the final fifth of the table

dont compare arsenal and tottenham or blackburn because there is a reason Arsenal is part of the English "Big 4" tottenham's cup win over chelsea this past season has been their only cup since 99

and blackburn...the hell r u talking about?

I hope they can win the Premier league I'm all good so long as Liverpool or Manchester United don't win it.
I hope they hold on to Heleb they would struggle without him. Rocisky, Van Persi can remain fit. The return of Eduardo, things would be looking good for Arsenal but too many injuries screwed them over last season. As for Chelsea v Arsenal I always seen Chelsea to be stronger same with United even before Mourinho and the titles our record against the top teams has been pretty good even if Chelsea where not winning trophies.

Relax the Tottenham and Blackburn comparison was a joke.

Yes, but before Wegner came to Arsenal they won a lot of their trophies being known as "boring boring Arsenal." So you cannot count the trophies won back then as them winning with a beautiful brand of football. It also important to note though that Chelsea have only ever been a force while playing fairly dour soccer. Before Abramovich came Chelsea had won less top division titles than my team Burnley!!

forget badnwagons. you're on a bandwagon wagon.

anyone who doesn't enjoy watching arsenal play is either pissed off that they play such great football, or doesn't know shit about football.

sorry to put it so blunt, but thats the truth of the matter.

i'd take watching Arsenal play the football they play right now forever. why you think they have the second highest revenue behind Real Madrid in other words they have a global fan base. for the obvious reason.

silverware will ake care of itself like Sule says.

Manchester United don't need to pick one or the either, because they get both, and it's fucking true.

not really,

man u playing beautiful is when in doubt give it to ronaldo, thus he can sprint like a horse and slip in behind the defense and 1-0

not that entertaining to watch but it definitely worked for them this past season

Borg this past season they would constantly show that ONE play with Rooney's backheel to Tevez

could u show me another time when they did or even tried something similar?

thats what i thought
Title: Re: Best football, or more trophies
Post by: manutd. on Jul 05, 2008, 01:04: PM
Something similar, please, who in the world can pull off something like that somewhat similar,  nice cross in from the defence, nice touch to Tevez, to Rooney, beautiful layoff backheel to Tevez, goal. Please, it's just not going to happen again, and if so, the defence would probably be more prepared.

Let's be realistic here, United play beautiful football. You can watch historic videos to this date, United play beautiful, United play beautiful, United play beautiful.

Show me something that Arsenal did somewhat the same.

That's what I thought.

Cambiasso goal in the WC 06 against Serbia. There are plenty of goals which have build ups similar to those but without a doubt that was still a great set up.

Look above you will see better football. And if it wasn't for Chelsea having there worse season in the last 5 years both trophies would have been ours. But last season is history now.

in the past seasons Chelsea have only been the competiton for United in the Premiership, Arsenal can dominate but are not that consistant which is a shame because there style is most probably my favourite.

Once again, I like Chelsea Sander

the problem with arsenal is that we at times dont have enough depth in the team
its a bittersweet moment
we dont have enough depth becuz were nurturing young youth talent to become amazing players
so if we abandon that style of coaching our style of play will fall as well

if arsenal keep playing the way they are and keep their players. they will shourly be compatitors and even chapions

At that time, Wegner actually spent a huge amount of money. Probably only slightly less than Man. Utd.

Lauren 7m
Pires 8m
Silva 6m
Ljungberg 5m
Henry 12m
Bergkamp 8m (although not bought by Wegner, was still a big money signing made by the club)
Wiltord 13m and he was sitting on the bench
Campbell was signed on huge wages from Tottenham
Kanu 5m
Edu 7m

Not really a team with young talent nurtured by Wegner . Only Ashley Cole, Vieria and Toure were players that were bought through on the cheap. Get your facts straight mate, and you call yourself an Arsenal fan? Hahahahahaha

Some of them were decent purchases, yes. I was simply making a point that Wegner went some way to buying the success for that team. Seal was saying that Wegner is nurturing young talent like before which is wrong, he bought more experienced proven players back then.

score one for the nut. they were all experienced but unknown before arsenal thats the genius of wenger

back to the topic tho. its a shame in football the best team does not always win but thats life. there was a post that says arsenals play is overrated. you must not watch that much football if you dont think they are entertaining to watch. back in the day arsenal used to be boring and win trophies but that is the main target of everyone so if you play entertaining or bad everyone will hate you when you are at the top.

i think its more a matter of respect. if you play the best and win you are well respected. chelsea dont play entertaining but they play effectively and they involve money way too much in football which why no one likes them or respects them outside chelsea supporters. Man u (as much as i hate them) have built themselves up (since the 90's. 70's and 80's they were shit). they play good football and are well respected throughout world football. Liverpool have great supporters and a great history for me all that passion transfers to their players on the pitch.

all in all i think the best football is more important because that does eventually bring you trophies on top of entertaining the fans.
Title: Re: Best football, or more trophies

only reason Man U have gotten better and better is because of Fergie and his mentality he sets down at the teams
