Title: Whos to blame
Post by: cigar omar on Jun 10, 2008, 05:41: PM
For the general section becoming so shit? The freestyle section, youngsters, the shout box, black people, my spelling, new members , youtube, borg becoming mod or oli?

discuss.

We might even get a poll going.

The likes of Mitchy, Golden_Ballz, Callum, Frejd, kungen, Benbow, Emil, Kevin, Beltrano etc were replaced by the likes of sputniks, emogirls and eldiablos.

What have I done wrong? I can't help that the members that register on the forum for freestyle visit the general board aswell.

borg and oli have been alright.  if anything, at least they're active

the freestyle forum needs their own general chat subforum

youtube has killed more than its fair share of threads and prompted more than its fair share of shitty threads

i think we should start combining threads.  instead of specific threads for playing music, tupac, hip/hop, rock, etc. just put all of that shit in to one thread.  i don't think the forum is active enough to support a decent amount of discussion in very specific, not soccer related, threads

i've noticed that with duplicates, but not really with topics that are "loosely" related.

i'm not trying to criticize what you all are doing as mods.  it's just a thought

No one hates any one its just a little joke no one is being blamed directly. See this is the problem everyone catches feelings. Its the internet relax dudes.

This is not a blame game tis just to see wat can be done to make things better.

to be honest everyone who contributes is to 'blame'. if people make shitty threads there will be crappy responses, obviously, the wise people just avoid stupid threads. the pointless threads wouldnt be so bad if there was a sustainable supply of interesting thought provoking threads, but there isnt really. whether thats to do with people being scared away by rubbish threads remains to be seen. if we go through with the idea of consolidating threads we will see if better threads take their place... but to be honest i doubt it. IF people had interesting threads to or topics to talk about theyd post them reguardless and (hopefully) theyd stay alive. but in a lot of interesting threads two people just get into a debate and it becomes tedious like the isreal palestine thread (props to staying on topic about the argument but it was just the same points over and over, and a load of name calling). There is no 'quickfix' either we all contribute well to general section or tbh itll stay as it is. a bit like global warming, we all know we should but i doubt everyone will actually pull together :dontknow:

I hate all these game type threads, like the ones where people finish each others sentences and all that type of shit. There is always a million post boosting threads, honestly its got to end. We had one or 2 it was alright now every second thread seems to be a game. Really immature.

Also threads get closed for no reason, a religious debate for example. Its all good so long as no one starts posting offensive shit and even if they do the individual should be punished and the thread should remain open.

i think people should concentrate more in the freestyle section. this is a freestyle forum. i think there are too many topics in the general section.

i was really annoyed the religion debate got closed. that was one good thread. A10s made at least one good thread, the global warming one, and that got locked because of arguements as did the israel thread. mods lock too many topics that are slightly controvertial.

and i would agree with you about too many game threads, except whats the alternative? i mean if you have any idea for a new thread say so, id sub a game thread for another thread any day. but as i said, theres a lack of interesting threads, which means all youre left with are game threads. they are fun for a bit but then its just meh. i post seriously when theres a serious discussion, ie i post seriously in a lot of the tech thread, although even thats getting spammy... general chat has almost no good discussions.

i think the best things in general chat are the spiradic 'news' threads, something happns, people discuss it. maybe a thread for interesting news items?

Open a Religious thread, just don't go overboard.

Everyone in favour of closing majority of the spammy threads?

most of that would be because many of us in general chat and the soccer forums don't freestyle

I think General Chat members would still visit them if they see them in the New Replies.

I'll open a few threads in the Freestyle section and close all the other spammy shit tomorrow.

I agree with sputnik and melbourne. We need to cut out on the post-boosting game threads and increase quality threads.

If you can think of a nice topic that most members would like to participate in, post it. Don't post simple crap that won't get discussions going. Throw that into the Longest Thread... that's what it's for.
