Who do you guys think has a bigger influence on the results of football matches?
who is more important? i know managers get sacked more frequently but i think because it is easier for a club to sack a manager rather than get new players....
what are you thoughts?
-
oh definitely players. No question. They're theones who play the game.
-
In a game I think they are equally important. But to the club managers are much more important. Its harder to get a really top quality coach. While you can get 11 new players of similar or same ability and skill as the last 11.
-
ok find me a team with the same quality as Barca, Real Madrid, Chelsea, Man U, etc...without taking all 11 starters from another team
-
Do you mean take Manchester for example and find 11 players that can replace there current 11? too easy.

any of the top teams in the world...dont be a hater....what team do you like? Real Madrid? Inter Milan? Roma? Barcelona? Arsenal Chelsea? Liverpool? Bayern Munich? Other? Any of those would work just as well.
-
And I can't used players who are starters for other top clubs or thats fine?
-
no as in you cant just bring in another 11 guys without taking tons of other clubs' top players
-
you have to have players w/ quality but you have to have a brilliant manager to put u over the top...w/ mourinho at Inter, i put them in the final w/o question.
-
melbourne is right they are equally important. if you have good players and a shit manager the team will not be organised. on the other hand if you have shit players and a good manager it would not make a big difference.
-
both are important. look what guus hiddink did with south-korea 6 years ago on the WC and with australia and now with russia. but to really reach something you need some quality players too. some can decide a match just on their own
-
I think a great manager like Mourinho won the CL with Porto. When you see average teams succeed usually its because of the manager. He has to be able to motivate his players and win games with tactics.
As for TFs challange
Van der Sar out - Canizares / Coupet in
Patrice Evra out - Taye Taiwo in
Nemanja Vidi? out - Micah Richards / Lucio
Firdinad out - Phillippe Mexes in
Neville out - Alves in
Paul Scholes out - Nasri
Giggs out - Manuel Fernandes in
Owen Hargreaves out - Collocini / Albelda in
Nani out Guardado / Robben in
C. Ronaldo out - Franck Ribéry/ Quaresma in
Rooney  out - Benjani/ Pauleta / Berbatov/ Morientez / Kuranyi ect in
Its much too easy to replace players.

That team is nowhere near as good though, you egg. Micah Ricahrds? Mexas? Taye Taiwo? Not near any of those United players they replaced.
You are making a terrible point and are digging yourself further into a hole
-
Do you even watch other leagues besides the premier league and Manchester United? People on this site make me laugh honestly.
-
Yes I watch all the leagues matey boy. Lets go through the team then and see where you are mightily wrong.
2...Van Der Saar and Canizares not a big dif, i'll give you that one
2...Evra and Taiwo. Evra is one of the best left backs in the world, you can't say Taiwo is better, thats stupid
3...Vidic has developed into one of the best cent backs in the world. Richards has done well in the Prem, thats it! No big performances from him yet
4...Ferdinand and Mexes. Same reason as last one
5...Neville and Alves, I'll give you Alves
6...Nasri comes nowhere near Scholes im afraid
7...Giggs and Fernandes. Fernandes doesn't play the same pos as Giggs so thats stupid
8..Albelda over Hargreaves. Hargreaves is champions league winner twice and has the legs on him
9....Nani and Robben, i ll give you robben
10...Knowone is really better than Ronaldo bar Messi in my opinion so no
11...Rooney. Maybe berbs, not the others
So you have maybe three players that are better, just not good enough son. You are wrong!!
-
Evra isn't even first choice for France man. Abidal and Clichey are ahead of him. How you gonna say he is the best LB in the world. Tiawo is a beast everyone underrates him because he doesn't play for a big club.
Vidic wasn't top 5 CBs before this year. Give Richards a bit of time he would easily be able to replace him.
Mexes is the back bone of Roma he can equal Rio.
Scholes is finished.
Gigs is finished they are both going to be replaced anyway. no point.
Collocini is hot property Barca are after him he came through at AC Milan when he was younger played for Villereal and Boca. Hes only getting better.
As for Rooney you will never admit anything. I won't bother.
And you know if I was to replace the players with slightly bigger players example Ricardo Carvaliho or Ibarahimovic you would still ask questions.
-
Okay, lets look at Chelsea, they have decent players, but they had manager problems once Mourinho left, so in that case the manager is needed.
It all depends really.
-
wait crap, is Evra not starting for framnce? That means I have to change him in my team for the fantasy pool.
-

Evra doesn't start for France, he is better than Abidal though. I didn't say he was the best, I said he was one of the best.
Vidic is awesome though, Richards is not yet and probably never will be. Don't read what you see in the papers, he is never going to be world class. Slightly too small as a center back to fall into that bracket (don't scream Cannavaro at me, Richards doesn't read the game or have the leap and timing that he does) and as a right back he is not composed enough.
Mexes is good but not as good as Rio and never will be.
I dont care if Scholes is old. Ask any manager in the world who they would want in a game tomorrow, Scholes or Nasri? They would say Scholes without any question.
Collocini? Come on, he hasn't played well at the top level yet and your saying he would improve/match the player that plays for Man.U in his position.
Your arguments are so rubbish. Are you seriously saying you think that your eleven vs Man.U eleven is equal or better? Come on mate......
-
melbourne has some, lets say, unorthodox views about soccer, and theres no point in arguing with him over them.
-
To me,It's players,Because they are playing the game,No matter how much a manager may train them,In the end,They have to go out there and play.

Its much too easy to replace players.
I can use football manager players too...
Van der Sar out - lloris in
Patrice Evra out - armand traore in
Nemanja Vidi? out - Fazio in
Firdinad out - barzagli in
Neville out - rafinha in
Paul Scholes out - (this is where i would put manuel fernandes)
Giggs out - Matias fernandez
Owen Hargreaves out - Alou diarra
Nani out --- Arshavin
C. Ronaldo out - jiminez
Rooney  out - Benjani/ Pauleta / Berbatov/ Morientez / Kuranyi ect in---agree w/ this one, rooney is shit.
-
and nani doesn't even start, so i don't know why he is in there...hes plop anyway
-
either way you cant just go and replace a starting eleven quickly....
-
Stop the dick riding you all have been overdoing it with United since the CL final. The sad thing is if any other team had won no one would be talking about them. :nopity:
-
I'm not talking about United at all...I'm talking in general
-
As they say, if you are winning, it's the players. If you're losing, it's the manager. :bs:
-

precisely. When it's usually the players faults and not the manager's anyways.

There was like what. 2 Threads about AC Milan last year. Now every thread ones that are about other things you get people mentioning United. It's an obsessed few.
-
oh, those few. well, they do follow manchester united. i don't see why they wouldn't mention them
many of the threads are specific to ronaldo anyway. 100m + largest club in the world + champions league champions = big news
-
its unfair that a managers job can depend on a performance by his players, or the bad decisions of the board of directors. but over the course of the season the manager will take his toll, for better or worse. as long as people dont sack him too fast, he will proove his metal (or not).
-
Melbourne, believe it or not Manchester United have the biggest fan base, and it's almost certain there will be talk about them on a soccer forum. I'm sure you would have boasted if Chelsea won the Champion's League, it's almost natural.

I've was on here when Chelsea won EPL, FA Cups, Carling cups ect. I never boasted. Well except the time they beat United in the final I had to.
Very annoying season for all my clubs tho. Lazio had a avrage season, Chelsea could have done so much better but they lost Mourinho, Depo just escaped relegation. You lot are rubbing salt on the wounds when you talk about the club I hate the most so much. :argue:
-
Arsenal is better anyway :hello:

Sorry babe, I'll rub salt on your pubes to try and remove that nasty smell. (no homo)

Sorry babe, I'll rub salt on Ronaldos pubes to try and remove that nasty smell. (no homo)
You can't say something that homo erotic and say (no homo) in the end. It doesn't makes it all good. :saywhat:
-
Hmm, changing things around there eh? I can do that too. :cursing:

(no homo), according to some, can absolve you from anything short of actually having sex with a guy. :saywhat:
Personally I agree with Melbourne.
