Title: I've started to freestyle but its not coming along good at all...
Post by: Ronaldo18 on May 30, 2008, 11:21: AM
I started about 3 months ago i'd say. I started practicing maybe an hour a day after school and a few hours a day on weekends. Now the thing is, I can do most of the basics, atw, htw, in the ditch, hamstring stall, toe stall, dislocated knee, toe bounce, crossover, catch between the knees, and the ronaldinho flick atw from the ping pong commercial. Well, I keep on practcing and first of all, I can't do them all consistently, I'll get it once but I can't do it another time. Also, I can't do combos. Usually I'll do a trick and then I can't keep on doing them. Like i'm good at doing all the tricks individually. And no matter how much I practice I can't get some of them. Like i've been trying to do 2 atw, one way and then straight of the catch the other way. And I can't do it. Every once in a while i'll do it but like 1 in 20 times. And I keep on practicing it for like hours on end and it won't come. And my last question, all of you reading this are probably experienced freestylers, so i'm wondering when you started making your first videos? Like i'm not good yet I know that, but I kinda wanna make one but I don't want to embarrass myself. How good were you when you made your first vid. Thnx.

Btw.i'm 17 years old (yep, i know i started late)

You're doing fine, I'm guessing you watched a lot of tutorials and videos, because sometimes it really helps and you can learn those "secret tips". Like, when I do a toe bounce, I learn forward which sort of makes the ball go higher for me. ;)

I've been freestyling a lot, but nothing organized, like I'd just be bored so I'd grab a ball and play in my room and just mess around.. so I haven't created a video yet. It's not a big deal. I think you should make a video and post it on here so you can show everyone and get even more tips.

To me, the number one thing is style, so work on that. I'm delaying working on really tough tricks and advanced tricks because I want to master the basics and get good combos with smaller tricks so it can help my style look better.

Good luck, and welcome!

i started freestyling 2 months ago and im also 17, dont be embarresed about making videos because then you can see your improvment as you make more and more vids
i have a video after 3 weeks and another after 2 months and im planning to bring out a better vid soon and people can see my improvment so they leave good comments

good luck

just keep trying and master the basic tricks so u can put them in combos. i have a tip for Toebounce lol. Put spin on the ball as u juggle before the toebounce. if the ball is spinning it will bounce way higher off ur toe.
make a video whenever u feel like it, dont be embarrassed at all, no-one will diss you LOL
i made my first vid when i was shit
could only do ATW, crossover neck stall etc

nice man! I yhink you didn't start late at all. I just started when I'm 16, just a year from now. 3 months is a really good time, because I can only do the basics consistenly when I've been doing it for 5 months or so. Even then I couldn't crossover and x-over!
Just practice man! Nothing is impossible, it just take practice.

Crossover is when you cross the leg over the ball, but x-over is when you cross the leg, but "under" the ball instead of over it. Ronaldinho use x-overs a lot, and Touzani prefer crossover.

it just comes to experience (which you will get soon if you practise so much) take some breaks so now and then

and about when to make a vid: i can do latw, taatw and combos of about 5-6 tricks and still i'm not on the internet (yet) but i want to improve and maybe i'll make my first video this summer
