Title: Horrible! Earthquake!
Post by: riodavid on May 12, 2008, 03:37: PM
A Richter 7.8 level earthquake happened in the west part of China yesterday. Until now, more than 9000 people died in the central earthquake area. The city Wenjiang ruined in few minutes. I'm 360km away from it, and I felt the earthquake too. Ground shaking under my feet, a kind of dizzy came to my head, everyone were in panic and ran. I even didn't aware what happened. After a few seconds I walked out the building and realize it's a earthquake. Fortunately no more damages here. I'm really sad to hear my fellows meet such an disaster. Peace to all the BF members.

I watched the news last night and saw this. It's really sad. I heard that hundreds of people were buried under one building. I hope everything works out over there.

I also remember hearing talk about new technology being able to predict when earthquakes are going to hit. Is this available yet? And if so, what happened in this situation?

Hm... I'm pretty sure a similar kind of technology has been in use for quite a while. It just wasn't precise enough.

More than 1'2000 people died now.

The army finally walked into that area this morning. (roads are buried, helicopters can't landing because of the rain, walking is the only way)

About the predictions? The expert said it's hard to predict earthquakes precisely...Damn it.

God, Plz save them.
