I would like to hear your experience with relearning stuff after long breaks, for example one or more months without freestyle. For example, it always took me months to regain my long combos, but I could do for example 3 LATWs after a week of training.
Would be especially glad if you also shared your experience when it comes to sits and uppers, because I think since for example uppers arent so stamina/muscle related, it shouldnt take so long to relearn them again.
Your thoughts?

i think if you were able to do a (lower) trick several times it will be very easy to relearn, at least at a rather low skill level.
What concerns me i have never really "started" freestyle in the way that i was training mulitple hours per week, and i also never quit, but when i occasionally freestyle i can relearn tricks quite well.
But there is probably a difference when it comes to harder tricks, where you have to get your muscles used to the quick movement again, or also for long combos, where you need consistent good touches and stamina as well, what you can't just relearn like that.
I guess that's why you find it easier to do 3 latws than long combos.

ATM's for sure.... i pretty much got the perfect style at them and great speed on them... but idk how i lost that touch... i'm going through this re-learning phase it's a pretty easy trick... but things aren't working well... but i'm after that shit :great:

also SF sole stall... i perfected it... i didn't stopped training it but i have this consistent problem of being inconsistent  i got spinning sole stall several times too but now i can't even do sole stall perfectly :( but i can do WF spinning sole stall and WF sole stall every time... :embarrassed:

I dont know if PATW is considered as a harder trick in today terms, but I touched it in my first training session in casual shoes after 2-3 months long break (I was able to send the ball like one feet above the ground after the touch). I also had no problems to do weak foot ALATW in those shoes and other tricks. But when I tried to do for example multiple HTW... well, that was another story.
I would like to know more about how long breaks affect your freestyle when it comes to uppers. I never used to be a fan of uppers, but I was thinking of concentrating on them more, because Im already tired of relearning all the lower stuff when I have to stop because of school/job/winter/whatever...

Thanks for your comment. Whats your experience with other upper stuff, like stalls, rolls or SS-orbits? Could you do them easily when you returned back to your training?

Uppers are very easy to get back, only rolls are hard to maintain a level at. I've quitted uppers for some months before and after a week of training they were on a higher level than they've ever been, that doesn't happen in lowers and sits sadly enough :D

i don't train orbits and stuff at all i focus on speedy both side body tricks...
i also got problem off late with head rolls whenever i used to go for a head roll from neck i don't know how it used to happen but the ball stopped at head stall even though my neack was in the posture to get the ball back on neck this is something that frustrated me the most i mean it's the basic trick for any upper fsr... but now i can do it hope that problem never comes again
not much of a problem with stalls i can do all upper stalls made one of ma own too :13: i know how important it is to keep the touch of the stall alive especially when you are in the learning phase of a stall. Yea one weird problem occurs everytime i have a hair-cut i get problem doing KHB stall :017: that thing sucks :embarrassed:

Qft.
Sadly enough, Im not one of those people that have naturally good lower style imo, so it always takes quite a long time for me to get it back.
OK, I think its time for me to stop crying already lol.
Btw, what is KHB stall? :017:

I had a few month break after my surgery on my right eye. It took me months and training of 6+ hours a day to get my old level back. Then again, I was blind in my right eye so it made everything extremely difficult to relearn. I took a break from uppers for awhile before AGT. The day I auditioned was the first time I had done uppers in a month. I did a 100 aproll np in the middle of a combo live. I've always had extreme consistency when it comes to uppers so I'm not sure how it'll affect you.

Are you talking about uppers alone, or your freestyle level in general?

That's the time I spent only on uppers, my lower level wasn't high enough to take considerable time to remaster (I was at like 3 trick combos). Juggling took ages to learn again because of depth perception issues, but as soon as i got juggling down everything came back naturally. Uppers were the biggest struggle because I couldn't see on the right side of my face.

sam this is awesome you reminded me of myself i used to train for like 6-7 hrs a day for 2 months only upper.. i could not juggle at lowers coz i have problem with ma knee (that is still a problem but i'm training blocks to eliminate that problem :D ) i don't know how but i'm good at sd juggles is got 142 recently :017:
i used to train the way you mentioned above in the night ma back used to be so fucked up i could not even sleep perfectly haha.. good ol'days  but i can imagine how hard it would have been for you with the loss of one eye huge respect
-
Yeah, respect for that, must be frustrating to freestyle in 2D. :wtf:
So you dont have any problems with relearning uppers when your eyesight is ok?

Hahaha I still see normal! The human body learns to adapt to changes! I really don't have a problem with depth perception anymore unless there's a shadow under my ball (lowers.)
When I did have perfect vision I think I stopped for a couple weeks, my consistency is ridiculous though so I don't think my level dropped at all. I also didn't have a problem going hardcore as fuck as the AGT auditions and that was the first time I did uppers in months. It really depends on the persons consistency.

OK, thank you all folks for your help, I appreciate it! (Y)
