Title: Tennis Player Impersonates Serena Williams: Is it racist?
Post by: redsforlife on Dec 11, 2012, 03:55: AM
Caroline Wozniacki (Tennis Player) Imitates Serena Williams During Match By Stuffing Bra & Ass! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0uTTWnoW5Mk&feature=player_embedded#)

I found this video in an online news article. It's causing some controversy, because people are finding it racist. They are claiming making it look like you have big boobs and a big butt is racially stereotyping black women.

I personally think this is garbage. For one, there are women of almost all races that have big butts and big boobs. There are races that have it more or less than others, but there are women of all races that are this way. There are also black women with very small boobs and a small butt. I think that the girl was just trying to be funny. I could see where this could be found mean, but racist, no way. Big butt and big boobs isn't near stereotypical enough for me to consider it racist. I find stereotyping to be completely wrong, but I find this to be completely about impersonating Serena Williams, not black women in general. Really, I don't know any black girls or any other girls that aren't fat that have as big of boobs and butt as her either.

Impersonating a person for being black would actually be racist. That's singling out their skin color. If you focus on personality traits or other physical features, I don't find it racist, but putting on black face or something else to just point out they are black is most definitely racist.

With a black person I mean, someone who happens to be black (but for the person not the being black).

She's impersonating Serena, there's nothing to suggest she's saying anything about any race.

In class our teacher was saying that some races such as east(I think) African and Islanders are much better at putting muscle on than other races. Glutes are a muscle and she's an athlete so obviously she'll be able to achieve a bigger set of glutes easier than others. As for the breasts, look at her sister. She just happen to have big breasts.
It's a fact about the race, just like saying some races have much darker skin than other other races isn't a racist comment, it's an observation.

Now, there are definitely more common traits of specific races, but I disagree about Africans and Islanders putting on muscle better than other races. I've never heard of this. If this were so, Africans would completely dominate all sports. Overall, it seems a pretty level playing field. It's more the individual's genetics that determine how easily they can put on muscle.

People are considering this racist, because it's stereotypical of black women to have big butts. Now, the big breasts thing isn't actually part of that stereotype. I think  it's obvious she is just trying to imitate Serena. Apparently they are good friends, and this is just something she thought would be fun. The thing is the stereotype of black women having big butts doesn't mean women from other races don't have big butts. We all know we've seen women from all races with big butts. It was definitely individual, nothing to do with race.

Eh, I'm not a big fan of this.  Poor choice in humor.  If it was hilarious then it would be worth the trouble, but really it's more offensive than funny so it's a bad decision if you ask me.

Why do you disagree? I said they were better at putting on muscle on average, nothing about specific sports. Different muscle fibre training go with different sports but when it comes to putting on mass they're much better. Besides, I've never ever seen an Islander smaller than my self even at my biggest(80kg).

Americans are way too easily offended when it comes to racist remarks, which is weird since Americans produce some of the most comedians who use race jokes a lot. Incredibly sensitive subject for you guys but only towards black people. Which is..racist. Either treat everyone the same or treat some people sensitively and be found racist.

I don't believe it was Americans that brought this up as this didn't take place in the US. Also, there is no real evidence that Africans or Islanders produce more muscle than other races. That's why I disagree. There seem to be more white top body builders than black or islander, so that kind of goes against your theory. Putting on more muscle would make you better at sports regardless. Muscles are what make you move. Now, it has been observed that people with large butts tend to be be better athletes, because it's often formed by better muscle tone in the butt area which helps for running.

I meant the Americans in the thread and any other thread on this forum.
The information came from a nutritionist and PT expert that has been in the industry for 10 years or so. I don't think you understand what I'm saying. They build more muscle on average, that's it. I didn't talk about potential, sport or anything. If you take 100 Islanders and 100 non-Islanders, the Islanders will gain more muscle on average after one year. Nothing's stopping the non Islanders from becoming bigger. I'm talking about hypertrophy training kind of building which doesn't aid any sport other than a means of intimidation or in body building of course. Which would make 'my' theory stands now that I've explained what I was referring to.
I already said that about the glutes and training.

I feel like we're the only 2 people on the forum discussing anything..

I've heard the claim many times about blacks being this way, but I've also heard from experts it's mostly bullshit. Now, there are somethings that are genetically more common in people of certain races or backgrounds. Samoans are much more common to be overweight for example. They actually have something genetically that makes it very difficult to keep off fat.

Superior muscle gain will help for sport. It's just how it works.

We pretty much are. There are one or two guys that make 1-2 posts every now and then. The problem is just very few people that post at all, especially actual conversations. Most people are still only  posting videos, maybe commenting on videos, or only interested in competitions. I guess the only thing we can do is get more traffic to the site. The people that come on here that aren't interested in anything at all other than the things I mentioned never will be. It's useless trying to convince them to post elsewhere. We just need to recruit people with a bit more eclectic interests.

Are people supposed to say 'blacks'? It's not my opinion, he pointed it out and through anecdotal evidence I've come up with the same thing. It's not that Samoans can't keep fat off, it's that they put fat on better and keep it on better.
Holy moly you're not listening. Hypertrophy muscle building is what I'm talking about, and you're talking about this:

No way. When I first came here I didn't care about football but now I follow it and have a shitty fantasy team too. If I can deviate, anyone can. There just has to be a good reason for it.

I know what both are, and it still would give you an advantage in multiple sports. Anyways, that isn't really what we were arguing. I know that it's Samoans put on fat easier. My point is a Samoan would gain fat with far less of a surplus in calorie intake than a normal person. This is an example of a group of people with a genuine genetic difference.

I think some can, but some can't. There have been several people on here with extremely strong opinions how they don't care or want to talk about anything else other than freestyle. You also have witnessed how some people aren't even open to other styles of freestyle from the one they like. I mean, do you really expect them to branch out from their current interests when they can't even branch out to other aspects of freestyle?
