Maybe he went all AROUND THE WORLD! YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH. Sorry bad taste, hope he is alright.

That's extremely fucking rude. Seriously, fucking pathetic. To make a joke about any missing person is shallow. I'd like to see you say this to the faces of his family. Not even funny, just plain disrespectful.

Take it down a notch, know one seems to know anything. For all we know he could have ran away with his girlfriend to get married and start a new life in China.

-
Sad situation here. It's looking worse and worse. Hope he shows up somewhere.
I'm just worried that he got too drunk and thought it was wise to go jump in the water or river. That's what happens to a lot of drunk people. I know there's tons of water around the area he was.

It's shocked that nothing has been discovered yet. It's not like Mathias was a troubled kid or anything. I'm still in disbelief as to how nothing has been found out yet.

All I know is that, police shearched him for 4 days, they didn't find anything so they stopped (this all happened at the beginning of december) and sayed that if the ice gets thicker they can start searching again on the ice with dogs - I don't know if they have done it yet.
It's the stupid laws in Finland that police won't start shearching before 3 days after someone got lost. Back in the November, when Mathias went missing, there was no snow for 2 days. On the third day it was a snow storm with like 20 - 30 cm of snow and when the police started looking for him, the conditions were pretty hard.
Finnaly, there's no information about him, no security cameras detected him, noone saw him. The area where he wen't missing has been looked over many many times, by the volunteers, police with dogs etc etc. still nothing...

Thank you for the update. Even though it's not good news, at least it's something new to take in.
As far as the video cameras go, where there many cameras around the area where he went missing and they still didn't see him?
Secondly, the 3 day rule is also used in the US I think. It might be a little less but they still make people wait at least 24 hours or something.

Why is that exactly? I don't see any reasons to why the police should wait to search?
-
I guess a lot of time when someone is gone for 12 hours or so, they often are just out somewhere and there's a misunderstanding. They usually show up the next day or something.
Starting a search costs a lot of money so they hold off to make sure there really is an issue.
Personally, I think it should be done on a case by case basis. If something really unusual is happening then the search should start right away. For example, in the US they do a Amber Alert (radio/tv msg) almost immediately if a child goes missing. It's an urgent and unusual situation. I think Finland should have some room to maneuver in drastic and unusual situations. Whether Palgi's situation is warranted urgent and unsual is probably arguable. I think from the perspective of the police, they probably thought that lots of young people run off to a friend's house after a night of drinking or maybe ran off with some girl for the night, etc. In that case, waiting for a day makes sense, but 3 days really is quite a bit especially in current times when everyone has access to phones and internet and can get in touch in almost any situation.

Yeah i didnt think of that first point of yours...but i agree with u, 3 days is more than enough. I'd maybe say 24 hours is enough

in India it's 24 hrs... they'll file an FRI after 24 hrs and would begin the searching operation after 24 hrs... but 3 days is more than enough

Has there been any update?

pallur, how do you know Palgi? Are you two friends? How's his family doing? Anything new?

Well this is a long story. Back in the days I was freestyling alone, never even having a conversation with any freestylers (except in bf). In 2009 I released my first freestyle video ever "tHe StOrY bEgInS", it was in July and in August I received a mail from him. He was freestyling then already and what's most important, he was Estonian. I had never ever spoken to Estonian freestyler before - there weren't any at that time. Even though he lived in Finland Helsinki, it was awesome to have a "homie". Yes I had friends in my hometown as well, but they didn't give a damn about freestyle and always when I did something new and told them about it, I had to explain every detail, but with Mathias, it was a lot easier, we both were freestylers and had the same passion. So we started talking a lot, giving eachother challenges etc. In 2010 we had a freestyle meeting in Tallinn, that was the time we met for the first time. A half a year later me and another Estonian freestyler Sander, went to Finnish Winter Freestyle meeting, we were allowed to stay at Mathias place. We met he's mother, father and younger brother, also 3 dogs which belonged to he's mother. They were really nice people, Mathias mother even made us breakfast etc. In Finland I told Mathias that I have done 127 ATWs and he was the one who told me that: "Man, that should be a world record!!" He did a little research and found out that it was. So I came home, spended few days and did 117 on video. Last year Mathias was the guy I talked about going to Prague, he told me that he is already going and that's why I started booking my stuff, without him I wouldn't have been there. He helpeb me with booking the flights etc. - again thanks to him!
If I'm correct, than he's mother is a lecturer in the same university I study, but I don't know what does he's father do. In December when I had a first conversation with he's mother, things looked bad, she suffered a lot. Now I think things haven't changed much, but the family is stronger then ever, that's for sure. Things haven't changed because there's no information about him. There's no evidence that he's alive or dead and I would say that this is the worst thing ever can happen.

wow !!! what a story  this why freestyle is so beautiful :03: epic
i wish palgi come back soon :25:
-
Thank you for sharing, pallur. Nice to hear the personal side of the whole story. As you said, the worst part of this is not knowing whether he's alive or dead. The family can't rest until they find out what really happened.
-
He was found dead. RIP.

According to the police, there is no reason to suspect a crime.
Most likely, the body has been in the sea floor, says Salonen.
As I suspected, I figured he somehow drowned or ended up in the water somehow. I keep hearing of stories where drunk people fall into rivers or go into lakes and then never come out.
