Hey so with football season coming up i've narrowed it down to these two for my price range. I play forward but do some freestyle in spare time. I know the shoe dosn't make the player but I would like to hear what you would recommend for speed, control, touch, shots, etc. Thanks.

I would go with Adidas.  They are ahead of Nike right now.  Check the leather F50s.  Can't beat them.

I dont think any material beats leather for touch. but out of your two choices I would go for the Mecurials. I like both but the latter seems more a midfielders shoe.
