beginner level in general attracts such a wide range of level. Do you think there should be a high beginner and a low beginner level?

I think most of the beginner lowers competitions on here are attracting mainly intermediate lowers level freestylers. Since most of the actual beginners aren't confident enough to compete, it is more or less an intermediate competition.

When i look at other sports like boxing, wrestling, football etc there are many amateur competitions and those 'amateurs' are very good. I don't think the word 'beginner' should be taken so literally. It is just name to classify different levels of fsers.
Advanced level can be very wide from people who do 4 move nt combos to people who do 8 or 10 move nt combos.
Intermediate can be wide as well if you watch the previous comps on this forum. Some guys doing their first 3 move nt combo to guys doing 3 rev tricks.
Beginner can be wide ranged as well. There is a huge difference between a guy who can do a 10 move combo and a guy who can do 2 move combo. But they are both beginners in my opinion.
It is hard to say for sure. Some guys look too good for beginner but far too shit for intermediate :grin: Just my opinion, no offence.

:iagree:... there should be low and high beginners, that would make it more fair in my opinion :) Its fun enough to compete in a hard comp but im sure that i would have much more fun with a comp that i could actually advance in ! :great:

I think you are misunderstanding the meaning of amateur.
Amateur doesn't mean beginner or noob. It's a term for athletes and participant who are not paid for participating. As long as you don't get paid, you are an amateur. For example, college soccer in the US has tons of great players but they are still amateurs. With that in mind, being an amateur doesn't necessarily mean you are a beginner, you're just not getting paid.

ok i understand.
anyway my point is really that the word 'beginner' is just one of the names for levels in fs comps. Not a label on someone's back to describe them.
I definitely agree with SmilesFS that it is more fun to compete in a comp which you can advance in. So these wide ranged levels are probably too wide.

Completely agree with Adi. 90% of freestylers that post on this forum are amateur. The conceived level of beginner has risen, because so many intermediate freestylers compare themselves to advanced or expert level freestylers.
Beginner = can do atw, cross, htw, maybe a few other tricks small combos.
Intermediate = can do simple tricks in combo and including matw, latw, and tatw variations.
Advanced = starting to do long combos and can do several difficult tricks.
Expert = Can do very long combos including difficult tricks. Also, can do tricks that very few other people can do.
I'd say most of the beginner competition guys fall into the intermediate category. I don't really think a true beginner competition has ever happened on this forum.

I think it should be that way so theres only real beginners in beginners comp and not someone who can do, for example, batw combos and hard nt combos..
