Title: New Lowers "Pass It On" Competition
Post by: Yen on May 05, 2012, 06:19: AM
New Lowers "Pass It On" Competition

I would like to start a new lowers competition which is also a new type of competition. The competition is pretty simple; One freestyler starts the competition off with one trick/combo then another freestyler has to perform that trick/combo with a MINIMUM OF ONE or MAXIMUM OF TWO more of their own choice and it carries on. Freestylers who have already participated in the competition with a combo can post another video at any stage. The winner is decided by the longest combo.
For beginners sake, within the first 10 combos of the comp, no nt combos are allowed. After the 10 combos, it's free for all but no 3 rev combos allowed.

The comp will only work if people start posting so let's have a bit of fun and participate!

Are we using this thread for the videos as well?

I think make a new Video Only thread and this can be the discussion thread

great competition
this is going to fun

what are the rules?

I'm thinking each person can add 2 tricks? Because if it is only 1 trick added each time the comp might get boring.

Also, no hardcore tricks like ahmatw, ltatw, alatw and no nts? Maybe crossover - htw nt is allowed?

And 3 juggles to show combo is landed?

.......also inside tricks can be replaced by outside tricks and vice versa to allow everyone a fair chance.

So matw = tatw ; amatw = atatw ; hmatw = htatw etc

Great to see your video Jabarinho! I will update the rules. The 2 trick rule sounds fine to me. As I stated at the start, no nt combos for the first 10 combos then after that it's free for all. I will still stress that inside and outside tricks still have to be precise since they are different combos.

PS. This is a discussion only thread so please place your video in the "Video Only" thread.

Thanks!

jabarinho replied with atw-tatw! Let's see if someone can beat that.

if someone did matw, you do matw
if someone did tatw, you do tatw
lowers without variation is just plain stupid
and also, this isn't a "new" idea. We had the "Can You Do Better?" competition
and... are you serious with the free for all after the 1st ten moves?
what if someone adds a patw or some other 3 rev trick after the 1st 10?

I think everyone has their own opinion and I respect your criticism. I actually don't think this lowers comp will turn out without variation. This comp gives a motive for freestylers to practise combos they may have not tried before. And I'm sorry bout the fact that I mistook it as a "new" idea as I probably missed the " Can you do Better?" competition. I don't think it really matters if it's new or not, the reason I started this competition is to get members interacting and posting again while having fun doing so. This competition is fairly open in terms of freestyle level as it is my first time organizing this type of competition. Although this competition can be split into Beginner Comp ( no nt combos) and Intermediate Comp(no restrictions), I just wanted to see how things run first and that is why I set the 10 combo rule.

If you have better comp ideas I'd be happy to listen.
Thanks :13:

this isn't some hardcore Russian forum where everyone has crazy weak foot and variation.

tbh i think this forum is too small for a comp like this anyway. I might be able to win with that out atw - tatw     Many inside specialist fsers would struggle to combo that. Where is my prize?

And yeh free for all after 10 moves would be very bad on this forum.

i did atw-tatw-amatw
is that allowed?
i already post my video

yeah I realize where you are all getting at and I think I will make a bit of a change in the rules that there will be no 3 rev tricks allowed in this comp.

@Ardhi yeah that's fine.

Good Luck! :13:

This shouldnt be just one competition. Things like this should be going on all the time, maybe even different difficulty levels (for beginners, pro's, uppers, sit-downs).

Yeah, that's what we're trying to do.  We need everyone to participate to make it a success.

Holly schnitzel!  You guys are already killing it.  I think we have to think of a way to continue it without going into the impossible.

what is the deadline to make a continued combo?
Title: Re: New Lowers "Pass It On" Competition

I would like to keep this as an ongoing competition but 1 week deadline for continued combo sounds good to me.

Budz just killed it with the latest combo. :PDT_Armataz_01_37:

wow i'm curious how this is going to end... what about adding uncommon and akward tricks to the video? i mean Budz could have ended the comp by adding hjatw, or if some Kaldoff guy enters and puts 360tatw
Title: Re: New Lowers "Pass It On" Competition
Post by: Budz on May 18, 2012, 02:02: AM
I think for the first 10moves it should be limited to basic stuff so that everyone can have a go and as for adding obscure/difficult stuff should be left out right until the end since it just kills it for everyone else
Title: Re: New Lowers "Pass It On" Competition
Post by: Yen on May 18, 2012, 07:38: AM
yeah completely agree. Should probably make the rules stricter next time.
Title: Re: New Lowers "Pass It On" Competition
Post by: samfs on May 18, 2012, 12:13: PM
OKAY I AM DEFINITELY JOINING NEXT ONE! I think some rules should be (for first 10 moves):

-No 2 revs
-No more than 2 nt tricks together (ex. amatw matw nt or amatw amatw nt)
-No more than 2 tricks added per person

Can't think of anything else..but this is the only way I think many people can participate and it will be fun

You can always start a new Beginner one... right?  Maybe this one should be for more experienced freestylers, but not sure... it seems the hardcore freestylers won't take part much.
Title: Re: New Lowers "Pass It On" Competition

No 2 revs is kinda ridiculous.
Title: Re: New Lowers "Pass It On" Competition
Post by: Yen on May 19, 2012, 06:17: AM
Beginners one should have no 2 revs. It's all about getting the basics down for beginners before attempting harder tricks.

Atw hatw co x-over htw practising both feet

I think no two revs should be for the first 5 tricks since if you can't put a 2rev in a combo you probs can't do a 10 move combo

Yeahhh that's better, makes sense. I'll post a trick tomorrow :D
