Title: Painting FS-Shoes
Post by: Philippe on Sep 23, 2011, 02:23: AM
Hey folks,

I was thinking about painting some freestyle-shoes like the adidas adi-novas (the white-black version) in completely white so I got a nice plain look which would look pretty cool in my opinion. Has any of you guys experience in painting FS-shoes? Is the feeling getting different because of the colour? How should I paint them correctly so I don't lose the normal leather feeling/touch in combos? Edding or some wall color e.g.? Would be awesome if you guys could help me out with this. ;-)

Thank you so much,

Philippe

LOL! Are you serious, man?
There's so many types of paint but you can't use any plastic based paint of course. I've dropped wall paint on my clothes and it made it pretty stiff. I have a splotch of ceiling paint on my boots and it dried very lightly, almost like it's not there...but I don't see it covering black with less than two thick coats. That's all I know about paint, so you can rule out those 3 types lol

I did it when I was like 11, I had a pair of puma's that were torn to bits and I wasn't allowed a new pair so I took my lord of the rings figurines paint ( lol ) and painted over the bits that I wanted and I was really pleased with it, however it didn't look too good for that long.

Class advice from me and Lis so far good luck lol

To be honest, I don't think you can't pull it off with leather shoes like the Adinova's. I talked to a guy who uses an airbrush for his work and he said it's pointless doing it with leather shoes since the stuff will just peel off.

He does, on the other hand, do it (very) successfully with plain canvas shoes:
