OK so as most people probably know.. the "Amsterdam" meeting is finished. Just typing that sentence makes me extremely sad. I feel like the amsterdam meeting has been a big part of my youth so far and i have unbelievable memories from there. ill never forget camping zeeburg and all the amazing times and people i met there.
Its been 3 years in a row now and frankly it just got boring.. So Im starting to think of a new city where we can locate the meeting! Somewhere that a lot of people will go, and somewhere where it WONT RAIN in July. (the rain ruined the meeting this year)
the city also needs to have a cool campsite near the city centre, hotels and hostels will make the atmosphere not as chill and cool.
http://www.tentstation.de/englisch/information.php (http://www.tentstation.de/englisch/information.php)
I found this place, 5 mins walking from the Berlin central station, right in the middle of the city, the cool thing is you dont need to bring a tent, they can rent them to you there. So in total its 15 euro per person per night if you rent a tent when you arrive. That's cheaper than the amsterdam meeting! I know some people dont wanna sleep in tents but thats freestyle lifestyle nigga!
I heard Berlin has cool people and a sick nightlife, has anyone been there or lives there? Who would be interested in going?
Lets get this shit started my niggaz
-
is it possible to make it in a country where getting a visa is no problem, please :)
for example croatia
-
Berlin sounds cool... check out Munich. You probably have an even better chance of nice weather and it's a great city.
Croatia would be brilliant though. I'm thinking about visiting Munich and Croatia next summer. Who knows, I might even pop up for some drinks and drunk dancing.
:Woot_Emoticon:
-
ahhaha maybe Moscow?)
-
well daniel it doesnt make sense to go to germany if you want to avoid rain. all i can tell you is that the weather has been fucked up all summer in germany. imo we should focus on some southern countries. croatia sounds sick aswell as italy imo!
-
OK this place looks dope. Barcelona youth hostel, right in the city centre. Barcelona is a cool city, cool nightlife and always sunny ive been there before.
http://barcelonamar.com/ (http://barcelonamar.com/)
I sent them an email to see about a group booking for 55 or 60 people to see if they can give a big discount. What do you guys think? Barcelona also has a beach and a theme park "Portaventura" 1 hour away by train
It would be sick to just take a day off from freestyling in the middle, and go to the theme park, its sick!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PortAventura (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PortAventura)
what do u guys think
-
I believe a location somewhere in central Europe would be the best solution travel wise.
I'm pretty sure you'd enjoy Croatia for example, but I think it might be an issue how to get there for some people.

im out next year, will only be attending prague. have a good one wherever it is!
-
ITALY ! kgomes's house !

I'd go for Barcelona or Milan. Both available for cheap flights with Ryanair, more likely good weather and still not too far to the south.
I'm actually hired by Dan to do some research in Milan in october. My job is to see if Footwork Team is capable of creating a good time for visiting freestylers. Feedback follows later :)
-
haha yeah i dont mind Milan either.. as long as its somewhere sunny with cool place to fs, and good nightlife
-
would anybody be up for going to New York?
im serious btw.. that would be dope. even if 10 or 15 fsers wanted to do it, id love to.. we already will have RBSS in Rome, and Prague competition so wud be dope to go outside Europe for once..

i'm from the us so i'd love new york:) for travel reasons

Vienna?
Kakva Vienna bre? BEOGRAD! :Woot_Emoticon:

in my opinion, Berlin is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe... I have been there a couple of times and all I can say is, it is absolutely beautiful! You got so many great spots, urban culture, friendly people, amazing night life (there is always some cool nightlife going on in Berlin every single day). Another city which would be really cool to have a meeting is Lisbon, Portugal. The weather there should be always cool. Munich isn't as cool as Berlin imo, the people in Berlin are more open-minded from what I've experienced.

Berlin would be sick, although I've never been there I think it's perfect for such a meeting! Only problem should be the weather..

Miran, can you name some issues for some people to come in Croatia?
If, only if, the meet will be in Croatia, i suggest Dalmatia, cities like Zadar, Split, Makarska ect.
-
Im in for NYC as i dont have to get any VISA :D
-
Kersche, this is not in any way funny - not the right kind of posts for our freestyle forum.

Prijevoz? lol

I'd vote for amsterdam.. even though it seems like it won't happen.

HUNGARY HUNGARY...there is gonna be a huge meeting there, we may as well make it the main summer meeting!
Skora just said he'll be there, ofc all the hungarians etc!
-
somebody tell me why not russia? i would like to know.
freaking cold !
-
somebody tell me why not russia? i would like to know.
freaking cold !
even in summer? but the guys do great events and i think successful ones too, if negotiated with them well maybe there will be a large number of freestylers present and indoor facilities can be easily arranged i am sure. Also, the level of some stuff is gonna be crazy.
but i am not sure about the prices or the goodwill when it comes to russia. i like them i must say :-D
-
From all the movies I've seen, russia hates america :(
-
Considering the EURO is in Poland/Ukraine next year, it might be cool to do it in Poland. You have tons of freestylers there, it's cheap, and you'll have a huge audience to perform in front of. It might be cool to invest in a small stage or something with all the Polish freestylers. Place it somewhere close to where the footy matches are being watched and you might have a few hundred people watching you. That'd be dope. Of course you can go somewhere more chill as well... the whole week doesn't have to be in front of a crowd.
-
Could S3 "host" it in France?
Or Footwork Team in Italy?
-
lol for those guys who didnt understand, my post was based on pure sarcasm
hungary would be the best place to go next summer
-
From all the movies I've seen, russia hates america :(
It's not only Russia ;)
-
@Adi prague is the meeting for the stage...this other meeting is about chilling and not necessarily having crowds. And i beg you, drop the 'footie' stuff!
Correct me if im wrong, seems like its more or less decided that its in hungary? 50 people have now said they're interested on facebook and milcsi is getting down to organise accomodation etc!
-
like Adi said in next year will be Euro Ukraine/Poland, soo maybe it will be great to do this meeting in Ukraine?) the weather in this country in summer very very good and I think a lot of polish and russian freestylers can visit this meeting) btw Patch and Amico can play the piano for all of us)) :043:
-
I agree with Adi, Poland or Ukraine can be perfect next year
-
I'm still for the Hungary option. :) Poland would be cool, but I don't want go there just because of UEFA European Soccer Cup. Sure, Poland has many great freestylers including Luki, Skora, Szymo, but Hungary has Rocco, FX, Milcsi, Mickey. Skora said he will come if there's gonna be a meet in Budapest.
So, is there a shortlist of places meeting should be?
-
i know a hostel in Barcelona ;) best pick imo...berlin i've been there n i honestly didn't like it it's dirty n grey... i say meeting in october in Munich = Oktoberfest LOL
-
i say meeting in october in Munich = Oktoberfest LOL
Now we're talking... :singing:
-
Hahahahahahaha, Adi, you alcoholic. Hungary!

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
so you want us to spend our OWN money, to perform for loads of drunk football fans who dont understand freestyle...?
what the hell lol, its the other way around, we're not just gonna do free LP's. who wants to have a meeting on a stage anyway
what next? Monica Lewinski giving Bill Clinton a bj?

@Dan: Agree with that. People will relate soccer with fs even more when they see us there

Oooooh noooo!!!! That would be the end of the world.
You know why freestyle will always be a super small niche? Because freestylers hate the football association. Football fans and players are the one group that freestylers are most likely to convert or at least make part of their audience. Instead you fools are pushing it away instead of pulling those fans in and making them fans and converts of freestyle.
Go on, make freestyle its own thing. Something nobody will associate with football. Why dont you just use a brick to freestyle with while you're at it.
I'm sorry but that growth strategy ain't ever gonna work. Fact.
-
you might be right. but the hate started oming from the footballers first. not us.
-
seriously, what about Lisbon, Portugal?
-
you might be right. but the hate started oming from the footballers first. not us.
People hate on anything thats different or if they are jealous that they can't do it. But overall tons of footballers love freestyle and appreciate it. That's why you see pros and regular players try to learn a few tricks. The few comments about "you freestyle cuz you can't play footy" are usually just jealousy or just jokes to get you going. The jokes obviously got to most freestylers. No need to be so sensitive.

Adi I think you have misunderstood the whole meaning of the big meet in the Summer, it's a meeting where freestylers can meet up, freestyle, talk, party and relax. Not a week long unpaid gig.
Nobody and I mean nobody would want to go to a meet buy a stage themselves and put outside a football stadium so drunk unappreciative football fans can walk past and not give us a second look, there's no fun or point in that at all. Honestly it's one of the worst ideas I have ever read lol
Freestyle is growing more and more without the association with football, look at the first Amsterdam meet to this years, the first Prague comp to this years. The growth rate has been impressive and we never went out to football stadiums doing free shows.
Things like RBSS, WFFCKL, Prague, Amsterdam and YouTube videos will make freestyle grow and become it's own sport. Not just linking it to football all the time, bmx isn't linked to tour de france, diving isn't linked to swimming, snowboarding isn't linked to skiiing, breakdancing isn't linked to ballet etc.
They are all sports and cultures that stand on their own two feet and freestyle is doing that itself right now and if you don't believe that freestyle has a future away from football then you shouldn't even be running this forum.
-
I clearly stated freestyling around the football areas as only a part of the meet. I said you could do your own thing but having something around a big crowd could be cool. Maybe a one day thing.
Also, freestyle soccer is not comparable to breakdancing or bikes. Those are different things. Comparing freestyle basketball to soccer is a fair comparison. To freestyle with a football or basketball you probably come from a soccer or basketball background and that will continue to be a trend simply because you need some ability with the ball to get started. Tell me how many freestylers never played footy? I bet nobody. Breakdancing and diving are ridiculous comparisons for too many reasons to list.
I disagree with the growth strategy around freestyle football. I'm not saying you have to go to football to grow, but what I am saying is that going AWAY from it completely as most you want want, is a recipe for negative growth. You're being too proud and ignorant if you think you're too good for the football audience. You should be using all sources to help growth.
I might not freestyle anymore but don't think I haven't been around this for long enough. I'm not a fool and know my business. the biggest problem for freestyle is the young, imature audience who doesn't know business and how to grow the sport.
-
The only thing we have in common with normal soccer is we use the same ball. period.
-
I agree with some of the things both Adi and Macca said, the truth is somewhere in between probably.
One thing I have to disagree with is the football background part. Nowadays, it's more common for kids to go straight into freestyle without ever playing football before. Sure, the older generations mostly came from football, but that's not the situation anymore. I even think that ATM, it's more common to find freestylers who can't play football than vice versa. (which is neither good or bad)
-
@Adi, we should let people interested comes to us rather than go to them. let them come to us for the love of freestyle not for anything else.
Boxing is going low, should they go and promote themselves to the WWE fans? That is only done for money and profits. not to expand boxing but for financial gain.
If i own a brand i would probably do what you said and get football fans to come to freestyle. but i dont :)
and honestly i know, the purpose of your post = get more members= forum becomes popular=your website does well =business/fame.

The sport is growing just fine imo. Freestylers are doing gigs everyday, when there's an international meet which you've paid your own money to get to to meet people you see maybe once a year not even that then you don't wanna do a free gig with them. Think about that.

Me. I've never played football in a team I wouldn't say I'm an amazing freestyler but I am somewhat decent.

and honestly i know, the purpose of your post = get more members= forum becomes popular=your website does well =business/fame.
its not for freestyle. am i right or am i right?
the purpose of my post has nothing to do with my fame. I don't expect to be known for anything to be honest. I just want this site to do well. I'm not looking to bank off it. I would have ads all over this place if that was my goal. Even when the site was really active, we never had ads bugging you.
If this wasn't for freestyle, I wouldn't have put my pride aside. I've done whatever I could to make freestyle grow within this community. Freestyle used to be a small part of Soccer Grip, then I ditched all of the soccer focus for freestyle. Everything is pretty much gone from our website/forum besides the small soccer board. I want to help freestyle grow and that's why I put tons of time into this site. I don't like hearing a bunch of shit from you guys about my love for football. Of course I love football, but it has nothing to do with my interest in freestyle. I love both in different ways, and that's all it is. I simply have a different idea on how freestyle growth can be helped. I've been the most active member on this forum for a while now and I don't even have time to be on here to be honest. I'm doing it for the well-being of the site, not profits or anything else.
Maybe one day you guys will stop thinking I only care about football and money. Fucking pathetic.

This.
Tbh adi is doing a good job, the forum could go better but adi has always tried to help the community out.
it must be frustrating as hell for him to see people having an opinion like tbc when he never has made any profit out of this website, he has never asked for our help to do anything neither has he been after fame.
He even let oli advertise his dvd on the front page.
I don't agree with the football thing but whatever, that may be your opinion.

It would have been cool!
Too bad the hotel prices and stuff are extremely high in July! :S

So where is it going to be arranged? Or what are the possible locations for now?

I know that Milcsi will do his best to organise a meeting in Hungary, Budapest I think.

I live 45 mins away from the city centre

+1 for you.
Do you visit Milcsi and the rest?
-
What about kuala lumpur... Wffc was there couple of mOnths ago..
-
yeah great idea man. convenient and accesible
-
Italy !
-
SPAIN, Barcelona! :) i nice place to do freestyle , the hotels are very cheap :lol_hitting:
-
So are we decided on Hungary?
-
I'd love to do a tour...Visiting multiple countries and doing a freestyle film about it...would be dope as a kiwi.
-
So is it going to be Hungary? We'd need to know soon for booking, etc.
-
That's a good idea Sven, it will take you a year or two tho. But I would love to watch it.
And yeah, can we make a shortlist of possible locations?
-
The actual possibilities that I can seed are:
- Italy
- Hungary (Budapest)
- Spain
Personally, I'd like to do in one of the first two as they're both quite big freestyle landmarks.

I would pick Italy or Hungary too.
From what I've seen on videos, both countries have some amazing locations I would love to visit. Sure, Spain is cool also, but Italy and Hungary are closer, which means cheaper. :)
For those who are interested in Hungary option, join the Facebook group, Milcsi will post all info in it. :)
