LATEST NEWS:

Ronaldo is Staying Put
Cristiano Ronaldo has rubbished rumours he will join Real Madrid in the summer and said: “I’m sick of having to tell people I’m happy at United.” The brilliant Portuguese star, 23, knows the Spanish champions want to smash the world transfer record by signing him for £90million — but he is not interested. He said: “I just don’t care what the whole world seems to want to say about me or speculate about my future. I’ve said it a thousand times and, by now, people should realise . . . I’m totally happy at United. I’m in the form of my life and I’m having the season of my career so far. So it makes me mad sometimes to read some of the things which are supposed to be related to my future"

Rooney to Captain England?
Fabio Capello says Wayne Rooney ticks all the boxes as a potential future captain of the England national team.

The Three Lions coach is yet to settle on a permanent skipper and, amid rumours that Rooney could be handed the role in next month's friendly against the United States, Capello sees no reason why the United striker shouldn't get the armband.

AC Milan move for Man Utd fullback Evra

AC Milan are chasing Manchester United fullback Patrice Evra.

Le Parisien says Milan fancy landing Evra on a Bosman next summer and is banking on his contract impasse with United to continue into next season.

The France international's current deal has just over a year to run and he is still to settle terms on a new agreement.

Ronaldo: 'I Want To Go To Madrid'
Cristiano Ronaldo has spoken out to Terra and apparently dropped the bombshell to Manchester United: he wants to play for Real Madrid, and seems to have urged the Spaniards to make a bid.

Speaking to the Brazilian website, Ronaldo apparently stopped hinting and explicitly stated his plans for the future.

"Yes, I would like to play for Real Madrid," he allegedly said to Terra.com.br.

"That's the truth, depending on what they are willing to spend on me and what Manchester United ask. But that's not up to me."

Apparently speaking in calm, measured tones to interviewer Julio Gomes Filho, Ronaldo said his piece and then closed the subject for the time being.

"I think I've put across an important message," he said.

"As of today, I will speak no more about this with absolutely anyone. I'll only talk about it after the Euros.

"Nobody is to ask me anymore, as I will not answer."

These utterances, made in the tranquil surroundings of Portugal's Euro 2008 training base in Neuchatel, will rock Manchester United's summer plans significantly.

The Old Trafford side, who have slammed Real Madrid and the Spanish capital press for unsettling Ronaldo, have stated in no uncertain terms that they will do their utmost to hold onto their prize asset.

Madrid, meanwhile, had previously pledged to break the bank for the goalscoring winger, although recent declarations about the difficult of signing Ronaldo have thrown such bravado into question. €80m could be the absolute bare minimum required.

However, one must ask exactly in what context the Golden Shoe winner spoke, and whether or not he was definitely speaking about this present transfer window. Indeed, some pundits have already questioned the veracity of the interview.
OUCHH!!

Bad News!  :cursing:

Queiroz is leaving United for Portugal, he left, it's official.

AND

Cristiano Ronaldo expects to miss three months of action after undergoing ankle surgery.

The Portuguese winger insists the early stages of his rehabilitation are going well, but claims it will still be early October before he is back playing.

"It's confirmed I'll be out of action for up to 12 weeks but recovery is going well," Ronaldo told reporters in Portugal. "I must focus on my recovery. I'll be training with a ball in two months."

Ronaldo's timescale has not been verified by club medical staff. As per last week's statement, his progress will be reviewed by a specialist after one month, and a return date will be estimated then.

Whatever that date is, it seems almost certain that the winger will miss United's early-season games - including tricky trips to Liverpool and Chelsea.

I wonder how Queirez will do with Portugal. He struggled a bit with Real Madrid but that was during a difficult time.

So Ronaldo will miss the beginning of the season? I hope this surgery doesn't mess him up. Tom (from the forum) had some ankle surgery and it's impacted him quite a bit. He's trying to recover right now but it's harder than he thought.

I really think Rooney can kick it off right this year, especially with Ronaldo being gone for a bit at the start. This is Rooney's chance!

I wonder how Queirez will do with Portugal. He struggled a bit with Real Madrid but that was during a difficult time.
He'll do good, but it's said because Queiroz attracted a lot of Portuguese talent towards the club, just like Scolari attracted Deco and Bosingwa.

Henry To Be A Red Devil?
Barcelona striker, Thierry Henry, may be set to for a Premier League return and sign for Manchester United according to Sport
Sir Alex Ferguson has been trying hard to sign a decent striker and Tottenham’s Dimitar Berbatov was his number one target.

However, the Bulgarian hit-man doesn’t seem like he will move to Old Trafford, leaving the Red Devils coach to think about the alternatives.

Sport claims that former Arsenal striker Henry may end up playing for the European Champions next season. His characteristics are what Ferguson is looking for and he would form a lethal partnership with both Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Gunners fans will be left reeling if Henry moves to United given the fact that the Frenchman remains an Arsenal hero following his seven year stint at both Highbury and the Emirates.

Should Ferguson fail in his attempt to sign Henry then Ajax striker Klass Jan Huntelaar will be the other possible option.

It’s highly unlikely that the Barcelona forward will sign for United as he is still very much a big part of the Blaugrana’s side. Henry also declared in the past that he would never play for any other English side apart from the Gunners.

I made a separate thread for the game, and it's only a community shield, we have our minds on the CL and EPL. ;)

Apparantly not. Seems as if beating the Kaizer Chiefs has been the highlight of your life.

Actually don't..

Henry left Arsenal because he knew that he was really hindering the team rather than helping it (he was persistently getting injured, not to mention the spine problem that he has). Why not let Wenger cash in on him? He's obviously the greatest player to ever wear an Arsenal jersey, so staying around as a shadow of himself wouldn't help his case. He knows Wengers emphasize of youth on the team is the plan now. He's moved on to another club while he has had the chance to do so, in order to give these younger players a chance. He will never equal his success nor his love at Barcelona. Sir Alex wanting to buy him does not make him a "coward." Even if he were to sign for United, , it wouldn't mean much to the fact that he has already dominated the premier league and has been one of the best in England ever. :hello:

No it will not. See unlike you Borg, I'm not some freak Arsenal (Man United for you) fan that would die if Henry joined United, as for you let's say, Rooney joined Liverpool. I admire the players that play the game much more than the teams. That's why if Robinho joined Chelsea, I would root for him to do well and light the premierleague up. I would actually be delighted to see Chelsea do well just because Robinho has been playing well. I don't live and die for a team I, honestly, have no reason to support. The reason I like Arsenal has a lot to do with the magic Henry provided for them. I would respect Thierry Henry no matter what team he joined to tell you the truth. Are you forgetting I support Real Madrid and Henry is on Barcelona? My view on him hasn't changed one bit.

...call me what you want (plastic fan, etc.) But i've come to realize it's people like you, Borg, who are plastic. You live in Canada for Christ's sake; you aren't Manchester United until you die.

It doesn't matter where a fan lives. That's completely stupid.

So Manchester United fans can only live in England? Wow. So that takes off millions of fans all over the world that support foreign teams. Why do you think teams like United take the time to visit other country's fanbases? Because they just feel like wasting money and going over there? No because they want to make the fanbase even bigger and pay their respect to the fans.

Worst comment I've ever seen, and I'm surprised seeing it come from you.

Alright let's use our brains really quickly.

You are a Manchester United fan...why? I don't know. Probably because you saw them win before or something. You brag and brag and brag about how great they are, how good they will be, how many trophies they have won. Blah blah. Now, see, if you live in Manchester, it is completely understandable. It would be YOUR team. You would be at the stadium supporting them week in and week out. Now, is it ok if you "support" them? Of course! There's nothing wrong with supporting and admiring a team in another country. But you take it entirely too far. Seriously. You post wins vs the Kaizerchiefs and brag about Community Shield wins.

You need to chill out. It's great that they have fans in other countries; that's what makes soccer the best sport in the world. But to honestly call yourself a TRUE fan because you saw them win the treble when you were 9? Give me a fucking break.

I was posting wins against Kaizer Chiefs because it was for the youngsters. If you had something to talk about then I'm sure you'd talk about it too. I'm not going to keep my mouth shut just because I don't "LIVE" in Manchester, that doesn't even matter to me. I'm still backing up Manchester United 100%. I don't know why you have a problem with it, I don't know why you even care in the first place.
