Edited out the build, it crap.
Does anyone build their own PCs?
-
Nope... wanted to a few years ago but didn't wanna mess with it. I don't think I'll ever buy a PC again. Gonna stick to laptops until tablets take them over.
-
I builded this computer I'm using right now

List the parts you used and what you're using your computer for.
I just bought all my parts, I'll list them when I put it together.

AMD Athlon x2 Dual Core 3.0 GHz processor, radeon hd4670 1gb graphic, 2gb ddr3 ram..i used it for gaming (i played gta4, pes, crysis warhead...) when i got it last x-mas, but when i started freestyle, i quit playing games, installed win 7 and now i'm using it for internet...but my brotha plays gta sa now....
-
That's not bad. I take it you had to play on medium settings for Crysis warhead.
My build:
i5 2500k
6950 1gb
p67 pro3 motherboard
4gb RAM
1tb
650w
It's being shipped as we speak
-
Nice, man..dunno the settings in Crysis...but the GTA 4 was awesome, I have passed the game very fast

when you're done building it, send it to me. or better yet, let me build it for me. that's a great idea.
-
lol the shipping will cost more than the parts.
-
Install win 7...and then directx 11, i have the crysis warhead, and i installed dx 10...it is better than 9

It's good if all you're using it for is youtube and browsing the internet.

Did u got the computer?
-
Yes! The graphics are astounding even though I've barely put it too the test. I played the dragon age 2 demo, it felt like 60fps+ on it's highest settings. Max settings are blocked in the demo.
-
Nice man...what windows do you have on it, xp or 7

Why not mention Vista? ;P
I installed Windows 7. I like it a lot already.
-
it should blow dragon age 2 out of the water on max settings
heck, my windows 7, 4850 1gb, core 2 quad q6600 @2.4ghz, and 4gb ddr2 build destroys it on max. 30 and above fps which is good for a game that doesn't require every single fps.
try crysis 2 or shogun 2 total war on max. I want to see the benchmark results.
pc gaming is so much better than 360 and ps3 but I wish some games weren't ps3 or 360 exclusives
btw how much did your new pc cost ya?

I'll download a demo of the game and try it out. I don't really play fps to be honest.
It cost $888 exactly. It's a lot more than it would have cost if it was from the US. It should last me a few years..but I might try to sell it just to see how it would do. If I do sell it, I'll let you guys know how much I make.
-
Screw Vista...
-
shogun 2 total war is a real time strategy/war game. It's great for testing pcs but as a game... using japanese soldiers to fight other japanese soldiers in japanese cities/town with the same japanese special abilities/strategy as every other japanese tribe/faction is just... repetitive.
$888??? I bought my pc for around the same price (maybe $50 more) and yours is pretty cheap for it's worth. and yes it's cheaper in the us. my pc was average for its time, yours is a bit higher than average. I will check how much your setup will cost here in the philippines. technology doesn't come cheap here.

blinque davao is the best pc store in my city and prolly the whole philippines. and omg the prices are cheap for some of the coolers and cases. :undecided:
I want to save some money now
-
zomg, for the same setup as yours it costs around $1100 here :embarrassed:

Oh okay, I'll download it now and use it for testing purposes. Thanks!

Oh shit. How much was the case?
Case $65, 1tb hdd $65, psu was $115, I also picked up some cheap keyboard and mouse combo for $15. The motherboard was around $125-$150.
-
case, hdd, and psu are around the same price.
it's the processor, ram, and gfx card that are flippin expensive.
-
Wow, RAM as well?!
By the way, what are the games should I get to test the graphics card out? I can't download the Shogun demo from the unmetered site I usually use.
-
Dirt 3 (rally game) or try "heaven benchmark" http://unigine.com/download/ (http://unigine.com/download/)
-
Dammit! I hate bigpond games arena, it has none of the games you're mentioning.
I bought a 21.5 inch 1080p screen today. It's pretty huge and super clear but I'm not liking it at all, too big. How big is your screen and how long did it take you to get used to it?
-
2 in... i mean 19 inches. I want 26 inch
I've been using 17 inch monitors since the fat/hunchback days so it didn't take long to adjust to 19 inch at all.
-
Haha, nice. I've been using a laptop for 3 years, the screen was obviously a lot smaller so the adjustment isn't going well for me. I opened bf and there was like 6 inches on either side of nothingness. I magnified the size and now everything is filled up but pretty blurry. I think I might return the monitor and exchange it for a 19in..but then I lose the 1920X1080 resolution. Tough decision.
-
you will get used to the larger monitor... takes a week or two and you will not even notice it :P
-
I got a
Monitor
Computer box
Mickey Mouse Keyboard
A mouse shaped like a snake
And a Dora the explorer mouse pad
I put "super" stickers all over it too so it's a super computer.

I went with the larger monitor. It's pretty cool at the moment. There's a lot more space though and I have to magnify the resolution on web pages or they look empty and and the text will be too small.

That's not a build!
