Right after writing the long bit i did on page 2 of 'rename' matw I have realised something, so please read this once and it all carefully
I am putting my hands up and say my first topic is arrogant because It has been a very long time since matw was made and the majority of people on here first saw freestyle when it had developed massively. Alot of people understandably are thinking wtf was it as big deal as some of the old school members are saying, this will bring back memories for some but here is a tad of history for many to learn, hers why:
When this forum started, the ONLY videos we had, was Touzani 1 & 2, an Nelson 1 - THREE freestyle online videos
Me palle and a only couple others started to put combos together which was impressing a lot of people, there we ABOUT FIVE freestylers!
Touzani was an online God people saw what he done short combos and thought it was fake, that was how amazing it was it had never ever been seen bare in mind
Now before matw believe it or not the only tricks were atw, htw, toe-bounce, crossover, tatw. That is it. And the gap between matw coming out was a VERY long time of the same stuff, more videos came, same moves, it didn’t seem possible that there was anything else you could actually do and nothing new was coming up in videos
So one night before meeting my mate to make my second video I thought fuck it, why not try inside atw into a cross-over thinking it might be impossible to actually do so the next day when I met my mate it went like this…
- tried it, I fell over, I got up
- tried it again, fell over & still seems impossible, I got up
- tried it again over 20 more times and failed
- tried again landed with my foot on the ball, fell on my angle and rolled around in pain, got up
- realised if I got my foot under the ball I could make the cross over, so started filming
- after over an hour of attempts in pain with a swollen ankle, I hit it perfectly and carried on juggling
I posted my video on the forum and OTHER members called it mitch atw, not me, I wasn’t even sure but went along with it.
Not long after this there were gradually more and more new moves being made because people realised ‘actually that wasn’t so difficult to do, so maybe this isn’t and I can do it’ example - palle came up with patw and more and more got discovered
Now im not saying matw wouldn’t of got found because obviously it would have but I was the one who sat down and thought about being unique and going for it and thought fuck it and went for it and did it. And anyone from back then Adi Benbow etc etc will tell anyone 100% that it triggered off many new moves that no one thought was possible
I know that was long but I think it is interesting to know the beginning of the beloved freestyling when there was 4 or 5 of us because look how big it is now, the main credit goes to Touzani for me for the whole thing kicking off, but I certainly played my part in the begging,

thats right my Golo my lovely allthough that was when alot of things started to kick of but the matw stood out as it was the first trick to progress from the same old tricks we had for over a year

ty Alex (Y) I always used to write random shit before i posted any videos back in the day me and Adi were even at war but then we got used to eachother and all had a good laugh, shame the old forum got deleted really could have found when touzanis first video was posted and everyone passing out lol

can still do all the stuff i used to do but havent advanced but am consistant with it, and i dantheman....i thought you were someone else that used to call himself dantheman, realised now your not who i thought.....my bad lol

i respect that you made matw like the way you said you did. when i first found out tatw, i also thought matw would be impossible :)

Mitch is a legend people. Give him the credit he deserves. All freestylers should have mad respect for those like Mitch. He didn't roll those ankles for nothing. :grin:

Palle is a legend because of what he's done to freestyle in general. What has Mitchy done? He was just lucky to be around and do tatw with an inside atw. Even if I wasn't around back in the day, does that make me an uninformed "kid"? If I knew nothing about freestyle, your sentence would make sense, yes.

Lol I read what has been said about Mitch and what Mitch said and it's pretty damn funny.
I remember when matw was first displayed to the world and it was pretty awesome at the time. I also remember not liking naming the trick "matw" and instead wanting to name it rtatw, which, even further, Mitch said he was OK with. More people seemed fond with matw though. That was a long time ago and I can't back up any of it since it's all deleted.
Not in my wildest fantasies did I see Mitch coming here after 6 years and bragging about his achievements at all. So much for growing up, eh?
Though I would like to point out that eventhough the complexity of the trick isn't the highest, inventing matw was pretty huge AT THE TIME. Mitch contributed to the fact that trying to come up with new tricks isn't pointless and should thus be somewhat respected.

i didnt domand any respect i was pissing about then people disrespected then i explained then everyone was like 'oh ok' so how has as pathetic debate now come up? adi is right im afraid alot of kids or kid like people here or people who cant understand any sort of joke or banter, really sad to see lads

Ok mitch you are really an idiot. Who do you think you are? Not even people like palle or skora who are Real legends can behave so arrogant. What have you done for freestyle? Taking tatw and do it inside? Come on thats nothing genious at all. And how you are telling this story is even more funny. If you really fell that often while trying matw it is better that you stopped freestyle because you have 0 talent. All you achieved with this thread is a community disrespecting you, congrats. Mitchy - Max is a proper freestyler who is fucking sick and can do real combo's and amazing tricks (patw & eatw) so yeah now you know who he is and he's alot better than you so shut the fuck up :great:

Credit due to where credit belong, and you invented matw. Matw is yours. Beacuse someone is better in a move doesnt make The trick theirs.
Saying this there Are many ppl better than palle in patw and the patw that palle first posted has been discussed weather it was landed or not, right? Why dont we hand patw too Anders then wich was second on this move? Iam just saying, not that I mean it. It is correct what you say Sven, it doesnt make you a "uninformed kid" But i think Mitchy should get the creds he deserved. Matw is a very central trick in todays freestyle. So thanks to Mitchy we now have tricks like, matw, amatw, ahmatw, etc. Im not saying its all his fault that those tricks were invented but he played a central role by inventing the matw. I know that there could have been another who invented the matw to. If Mitchy hadnt maybe some other guy would, but dont take the creds away from mitchy of that reason.
Im just saying my opinion, doesnt say its right, but thats what i mean :)
