hi, I've been practising consecutive HTW's, but after around 8-10 mins, i find myself exhausted, & can't carry on practising them... Is there any help out there with any sort of exercise, with or without a football, which could potencially increase my level of stamina? or is the easiest thing just practise & do lots of easy combos?
thanks :great:
-
imo just practice a lot... even when you are exhausted... train so long that you can't do anything anymore... :D
-
you may try running. or maybe your technique on htw's is not comfortable for you. htw require the most stamina.
-
10minutes? There's obviously a problem in your diet or you've never done any sprot in your life. Eat something high in carbs 30mins before you freestyle and see if you can freestyle for longer.

I usually have something with bread. It's the easiest sorce of carbs I can make myself. Sometimes a banana. Usually both if I plan to go for a few hours but that's rare.
So eat a sandwhich or something and see if you can go for longer than 10minutes.
-
10 min? ahhaha
wow
i usually run with weight vest or not to build up endurance when my legs get heavy after loads of htw's

Bread's crap (in general, unless maybe whole grain bread), bananas are also crap (for pre-training, they're much better post-workout).
Have some lean meat with some "slow carbs" like rice or pasta 1-2 hours prior to training.
For the original poster, try to do shorter periods when practicing them. Like, do them for 5 mins, then move on to something else, then return to HTWs. You can try with HIIT for building up you anaerobic and aerobic capacity, but better just stick to FS, not sure how much carryover would it actually have.
-
Pasta relises slow energy which is a good meal if you want to train for a long time

But it's easier to take a slice of bread out of the baf than prepare pasta just to freestyle longer :P
-
monster energy is rich in carbs too
i eat granola bars during practice, when i know it will be long - i always take some food and make 5-10 minute breaks sometimes
-
Energy drinks are rich in sugar, which is a "fast carb", which is best suited for post-training. :Woot_Emoticon:

Did you read my tutorial about htws? If 'yes', you shouldn't listen to anymore :D

yes, I did, but I'm not sure if I understood everything that you explained, I'm not sure if you said anything about stamina, did you?
anyway, thanks everyone else. I will be eating alot of pasta, bread, energy drinks, energy bars & bananas! lol. I'll also practice in gaps.
-
energy drinks are not good - you may get addicted to them since once they boost up your energy level - you want it every time
besides they are rich in sugar, and bad for heart

yea, the last part of that was about how to improve stamina straightly for htws

LIAR! You must be one of the doctors or whatever they're called...
Everyone should have at least 1L of enregysmic drinks before each practice! :Woot_Emoticon:

Maybe if they were completely understandable, people wouldn't ask additional questions. ;)
Get Alexis here to help you out with expressing yourself in English so you may fully pass your wisdom to others. :)

wait a second, are you trying to troll me mr Mod?
writing bs about energy drinks, then misspelling my beautiful name? - i am not feeding you mr troll

yh, i agree, maybe a little more explanation would help not just me, but probs nearly everyone. i mean, no offence alexfs, but i do find your tut quite difficult to understand... :017:

It was Leha's tutorial, not Alex's. If alexfs wrote it, be assured that you'd understand it. ;)

eat sandwich in school!
-
jogging?
-
i actually had thought about that, but im not really a jogging person. just cant be arsed
-
It really works good for me :)
You only need a 15-45 minutes a day. Off course it depends how much stamina you have from before.
If you have really bad stamina just start with a 15 minute jogging session. And then you can increase the length as the stamina improves.
Put on your favourite songs on the iPod/MP3 player and start jogging. The music will help you through the session.
-
mmm. maybe, but time is difficult for me cos of my studying
-
DON'T DRINK!
-
i eat for example , pasta which usually does the trick ( because its high in carbs, which means more energy) and i think the harder and more you train, the more stamina u will build anyway!
-
DON'T DRINK!
best tip in the whole topic

ABSOLUTELY NOT! Do not listen to this guy. Energy drinks are absolutely horrible for you. Always avoid energy drinks when exercising. They're not going to kill you. But many of these increasingly popular drinks contain significant amounts of caffeine, which can make you jittery and cause insomnia, as well as loads of sugar, which nobody needs.

i actually prefer water. waters the best :039:
-
Yes I want to be a fitness trainer when I am older and from what I have learned you should always choose water to hydrate. Good job man :PDT_Armataz_01_37:

haha. i think the best way to get better in stamina is just to practice until your very last breath, until the point where you really cant move your legs. and also have a lot of breaks

milk

you mean breaks for like 5-10 mins in your session, or breaks like days were you don't freestyle?
srry for failing the quote thing lol

Sorry, but that's bullshit
-
The best way is to do it gradually. A slight increase is much better than to train until you can't move.
Think about it, does a football couch tell you to run 10km on the first day, does a power lifter start off on 200kg bench press?

Of course I meant coach lol..
Start with 1 hour or so, then increase the time by increments of 15mins.
-
1 hour is a good start time. Your legs might be quite tired but alot of that time should just be focused on juggling. I can usually go 1 and a half hours without a burn. And take 5 minute breaks every 30 minutes for a few sips of water. That is a pretty good routine.
