I've seen a few FB statuses about it, but does anyone know which 12 freestylers (from the voting) have been selected for the competition?

Well, to be honest, since they're not in English, but in their native tongue, don't really understand all of it, just see that they're mentioning the competition and then about a gazillion people congratulating them, so I guess they've been selected for the competition.
Because I've only seen 3 people post stuff like that, I'm wondering who else is in? :)

I've seen FB status too with freestylers announcing their participation
- wass, sean, soufiane, yosuke...etc , but I cannot find an official list anywhere, and don't even know how those announcing it where chosen ?? anyone has infos?

OK, so.. so far we've got:
- Szymo, Michryc, Petike, Soufiane Bencok, Wass, Gunther, Otman & Yosuke
That's 9, which leaves 3 more places, plus Séan & Azun already being invited and 2 more places which will be filled via an video qualification, with 1 guy being from the UAE and 1 international freestyler.
So far, selection doesn't look bad, but still some "WTFs" in there...
As far as I know, they had a panel of freestylers make a selection (12 names) from the freestylers that are in the voting poll.

Me, Michryc, Skora have got an e-mail with information that we are on the list of participants. We just need to confirm we are coming.
I suppose that Luki has also got an invitation

If you are referring to the voting results, they don't really play a part in the selection, because, as I said, they had a panel of freestylers select 12 freestylers who'll participate. Still not sure how some got an invite though, lol.

It's not only the votes that counts. This is what they say on their website:
THIS IS NOT A POPULARITY CONTEST we will select the final competitors based on their interest, availability, commitment and the votes from you and our international jury.

Matt, it's not only based on quantity of votes because it would be too easy. There are special judges and they choose top freestylers based on their videos and "freestyle cv"
If you don't confirm your participate then they will choose next guy I think

Ppl that are able to pay the tickets will be the one in the competition...probably noone will go there i think, some local freestylers , azun, sean and some will get there for free i guess..... I think it will fuck up and no competition will be held ,, thats my guess

Around 50 guys got an invitation ....also Daniel Dennehy. They do realise only about 10 will show up i guess.

This competition is 10 year before the real world of freestyle. It look like MOTG think all freestylers have that as a job and have good money! They also say this competition is a "professional competition". Big failure even before the competition have begun!

Just to make one thing clear, but maybe you guys know allready.
This is not an MOTG competition like the ones in 2003 and 2006. The guys organising it are not from MOTG . Some guy bought the name MOTG and he is not from the scene. So motg is not a dutch company anymore.

The organizers of the competition is the same mind of the 2003 n 3006 competition. MOTG is putting the name. There was suppose to be also a street competition. The sponsor is Samsum.

Gustav said it right. Guess we'll just have to wait and see who makes it in the end (manages to sort out their finances), just hope the good ones are actually able to make it, so it doesn't turn out a mediocre competition. :grin:

Guys I don’t know if you have seen the website. Samsung is also promoting the event on their Facebook page and other social media (see the links below).

I heard from someone that their are rumors going around of the event being canceled! ITS NOT TRUE - Everything is fine. There are a lot of people that cannot make it for whatever reason and we have stated our frustration in regards the costs from day one. Someone is trying to put false info out, its just another form of hating on those of you that can make it. We are going to have a GREAT event. It will be historic. If it was canceled Samsung would not be promoting it with a website and on their Facebook pages.

To those of your still booking flights, hotel rooms and needing visa’s arranged, lets have contact and try to tie up any loose end. If any of you guys know Bilal in the UAE, he has found some decent prices for appartments. You guy can also make contact with him to see what he can fix for you. May be a lot cheaper than a hotel, shared costs (4-6 guys). I hope to be able to post the final list of competitors this week. Hopefully its completed with all the confirmed competitors (sorry for the delay). We are waiting for a few guys to confirm and make final arrangements.

They all told us YES they were confirmed but "confirmed" for us will be on 4 March when we see them in person doing an ATW. So for now to be safe we have the status of committed. Hopefully it will clear up any and all confusion about the event.

We will be VERY lucky if all 26 of these guys will make it. We have a pretty solid list of commitments. All we can do is take the guys word and help everyone as best we can... We have options for a competition with 24 Freestylers and one with 16+ Freestylers with a qualification round. We feel that if the guys on this list went through all the trouble to come to Abu Dhabi and pay their own #$% costs then they deserve the right to be in this competition. Its not complicated, its our way of thanking them for the effort and sacrifice. There will be a local competition for UAE freestylers and we will pick 1 or 2 freestylers from that competition. Its been the same for every other MotG competition. Guys say they are coming and some didn't make it and others did. But there is a BIG difference in costs to Amsterdam vs Abu Dhabi. MotG has never paid for the costs of any freestyler to be a part of any competition. We want a quality competition under the circumstances and want the best man to win. No one will be dropped, they will all get a fair chance and the jury will decide. In past competitions we had even more than 16 freestylers compete.
We respect the community, this is why we are posting this here and we know a lot of people are disappointed that the event is in Abu Dhabi. We are VERY happy with our partnership with Samsung. We are focused on making this event a success and we will see what the future will bring. That's it, nothing more to add...

thanks for the update motg . It will be cool to see the event !!! Sure i wont be a top16 like most of us would have liked to see , but i still think its a good list with people from many countries.
