nop, WFSLeague is different from RBSS, different approach, different rules..etc
its a League created to push Freestyle Football as a true and recognized SPORT, not jumping/dancing/circus stuff that people always think it is.
from the FB info page :
"The WFSLeague is a sport league created to give a framework to the sport of Freestyle Football.
The WFSLeague consists of a series of qualifying events (called « Series »), held in major international cities wordwide. The qualified athletes from the different Series will be able to take part of the WFSLeague Master Final.
The project of creating the WFSLeague comes the following observations :
The sport of Freestyle Football is in need of professionalization and structures without losing the « urban spirit » of the sport .
Whether its athletes, its rules, its ranking system, its prize money...the WFSLeague organization gives the necessary framework to make the sport of Freestyle Football evolve into a recognized sport.
The WFSLeague is also designed to be a communication stream to the media of all kind and has organized itself to supply numerous high quality content to the media worlwide.
It is a clear goal of the WFSLeague to open the doors to the general public and showcase the sport to a large audience."

If you are talking about the video he released 3 days ago called "FREESTYLE FOOTBALL TOKURA", that video wasn't for this competition.

No, I mean that Tokura doesn't train upper, from what I've seen.
That is my only criticism for this competition, I think people should be allowed to do whatever they want.
lol Yosshi doesn't do air moves either so...

1) I'm sure he's able to show some decent uppers.
2) I agree.
3) He doesn't do airmoves? Then how/what would you call the moves he does? Block tricks, footbag tricks like clipper and eclipse are also airmoves. ;)

please come to america plis, great idea right now the free is the future kkkkkk, very good idea congratz for de organziator.s

It said in the rules that the video must include sits/lowers/uppers and airmoves or something like that, so I thought that they meant general lower stuff like tb, spin magic you know things that aren't used normally in combos and then airmoves (combos) as being a separate criteria.
I'm sure Tokura can do upper, but I've never seen him do any uppers at all. And yes, I don't associate blocking/clutching etc. with airmoves, I just don't find them the same thing, you know?
They should have a live qualifier (battle or performance) to get into the top 8 as opposed to submitting a video.
I hope to see Yo and Tsukasa partcipate ;D

yeh i agree. Its good they are trying to bring some structure to the sport but too much structure is not good. Being forced to do tricks in every category is too much structure IMO. But anyway thats just a minor issue in an otherwise very good idea. :sign0098:

Like in ANY sport competition : the best athletes can do everything.
The goal for WFSLeague is to have real PRO Athletes in the next 2 years...so...if an athlete want to win this competition he will have to be the best in anything, thats the way it works in sports.
if one guy is not so good at uppers....then lets go to work !
-
here is more infos about the official WFSLeague judging system.
The exact same system will be used in all official WFSLeague competitions worldwide.
NOTE : this is still under work but is 80% valid.
JUDGING SYSTEM
3 Scores are taken into account for each battle:
1- Technical score (difficulty, variety, cleanness and speed of the tricks)
2- Control score (transition, movement, ball control, balance)
3- Performance score (physical involvement, style and personality, special movements)
Each score is given by a judge in charge of each score out of 10.
For each battle, the athlete receives a cumulated score from the 3 judges.
Example for a battle A vs B:
Player A receives 5 points for technical score / 6 points for control / 7 points for performance = 5+6+8 = 19 points
Player B receives 6 points for technical / 8 points for control / 8 points for performance = 6+8+8 = 22 points
Player B wins the battle.
TIMING
Each Battle lasts 3 minutes for the qualification round (2 times 45 secs per Freestyler), then 4.30 minutes for the top 8 and Final round (3 times 45 secs per Freestyler).
Each player does 3 battles. At the end of the 3 battles, each player receives a cumulated score.
His score is compared to the others scores of other players of its group, to sort out 1st place/ 2nd, 3rd and 4th .
In the case of a draw, a final battle will happen between the 2 players to sort out the final places (2 times 45 secs per freestyler).

to L_I_S : the criterias you are highlighting are specific freestyle football criterias that need to be judged, as creativity is a large part of the sport.
Anyway you can find these criterias in ice-skating judging system too.
-
But why do you need personality in a sport? I don't understand. Will a diver lose points for not smiling and clapping before the dive?
-
that is a good question : why judging personnality.
I think it is already the case in LOTS of sports where you find creativity and/or body expression : ice skating, gyms...(where the criteria is obvious) some others where its not obvious but plays a great role, and then its called attitude or behaviour.
you may note that most of sports superstars have a strong personnality and you will find this personnality in how they express their sport.
-
I think this will be great! :PDT_Armataz_01_37: But i hope the judges are actually freestylers and know what they are doing
-
Sounds great, really, but....where I can find a tutorial how freestyler's personality should look like?
-
ho there are alot of documents if you want to search and read very interesting stuff about it...
You can Google : "creativity and personality in sports" and you will find lots of answers. its a bit long but very interesting... :Woot_Emoticon:
-
imo judges should just vote for who they liked better overall, having all these different categories and number systems makes it difficult to judge.
Do you care about repetition of moves/performances? or does it not influence the end result (unlike beach style).
Looks like Kosuke or Yamato will win this one :sign0098:
