Some average banter between Van der Vaar and Sneijder over Tweeter prior to their game tonight:

Sneijder: "I'm cleaning the Champions League trophy with a Tottenham shirt."

Van der Vaart: "Thanks for cleaning it up for me. I'm already creating space in my cup cabinet."

Sneijder: "We're gonna give you a football lesson in London."

Van der Vaart: "I met your defence in Milan, it didn't look good. It was like cheese with holes in it."

Sneijder: "I found a good goalkeeper on eBay. Shall I send you the link?"

Van der Vaart: "We don't need him, you won't come into our penalty area!"

Sneijder also mocked English football claiming it is all about power and athleticism not skill and technique and took the mickey out of Van der Vaart's goal from a few inches out against Everton.

Sneijder: "In that country football is a game where you have to run as hard as you can from the one end of the pitch to the other, isn't it?... Nice goal, but even my six year old cousin would have scored this one."

Van der Vaart: "These goals also count but at White Hart Lane against you guys I will score from every angle."

They said it was joke, and that they have same sense of humor.
BTW Gareth Bale just owned Maicon, he was so sick in this match. :c029:

i hate ronaldo diving and play-acting. He got a simple nudge in the throat and he goes down holding his nose with a delayed reaction of maybe 5 seconds or smth :wtf:. I am madrid fan and i love CR7 but i hope they punish him with a fine and a ban for this so he finally stops!! Although Milan players did a lot time wasting with fake injuries too but not as bad as CR7. Very entertaining game otherwise. :Woot_Emoticon:

Real Madid vs Milan was a joy to watch, as was the Inter vs Tottenham.  Bale made the "best right-back in the world" look pretty damn average.  Love it, especially since I believe Lahm is the best overall right back in football.

What an appearance by Inzaghi by the way... would have been a steal to get away with full 3 points though.

I didn't know Benitez got sacked.  Damn, that sucks.  I was hoping Bayern would get to play Inter with Benitez in charge.

Arsenal 2-1 Barca

 :sign0098:

What up big guy?!  Where have you been?

The Barca - Arsenal game was quite a joy to watch.  Arsenal had it in the first 10 minutes, then Barca took over for 45 before Arsenal closed it out.  I have no idea what to expect from the next game, but something tells me we'll see something close to last years performance.  Maybe not quite a hattrick from Messi, but I can see Barca winning 2-0 through two of his goals.

I couldn't help but notice how Barcelona has no other forward besides Villa.  Yeah, they have Bojan, but that's not enough.  I know they play a unique system where their attacking mids overlap so much with their strikers that there is no clear forward line.  Either way, it's crazy to think that they don't really have anyone else for that position.  Messi tried to fill in but that wasn't good.  Barca completely fell apart last game when Villa vent off.  The two wide attacking mids were squeezed inside after Villa went off which just resulted in all the attack coming from Dani Alves... and we know damn well he can't do shit right.

Jack Wilshere too scared to ask for Messi's shirt, sends Cesc to do it

Wilshere replied with "you are the skipper mate you should look after your players ;) Thanks though and next time in going after your mate iniesta!"

and OMG at how barca played after they scored 6 passes in like 2 seconds lol arsenal put away their chances and in the end i think that is why they won the game, other then that barca was mesmorizing

I must admit, I did not expect Arsenal to beat Barcelona yesterday. The Gunners deserved the win too. I think Wenger's young guns are finally coming of age? It was a mature performance. They defended well and attacked well at times too. Koscielny was HUGE against messi!! :undecided:
I always questioned Wenger's obsession with young players and reluctance to buy experienced stars, but I think his pedophilia is about to pay off this year :lol_hitting:

Haha; Cesc is certainly playing in the form of his life, but he isn't the greatest leader. He's too quiet. Arsenal don't really have a hot-head or a leader on their team right now. I actually miss Gallas.

@ Adi,

i've been good. about to graduate and start my full-time

Prormormances??!! :017: what's that?.....u mean appearances? If so yeh I believe he also has the all time appearances record. I don't know how many but it doesn't really matter. He only has that record because he played for madrid during the 1998 - 2002 period when madrid were dominant in europe and therefore had more matches to play.

The big test is coming up next week for Arsenal at the Camp Nou. Predictions? 1-1 for me :great:

i say 2-1 to gunners next week.....again.
It was strange to see how arsenal played better without Alex Song in the 2nd half. Maybe they should try that from the start next week :017: Song did a lot of fouls and i know he helped break up barca's play but arsenal were so much more fluid with nasri and wilshere in the centre. That is why they got the 2 goals.
Song is a great player but I'm not sure arsenal's style needs a player like him. Just like how Ibra is a great player but barca's style doesn't suit him.

Watching Man United play tonight was litterally painful, I'd rather stick a fork in my eye than watch something like that again!

Yeah baby!  The Inter vs Bayern game was dead even - it could've gone either way really.  Where is moby?!   :cheesy:

I can't see Arsenal beating Barca on the road.  I think Barca will take it 2-0.
Title: Re: UEFA Champions League 2010/2011
Post by: jabarinho on Mar 02, 2011, 06:50: AM
why not? If they can beat them at home I don't see why not away.
I've always wondered about this cliche. What makes teams better at home? I look at arsenal's stats in champ league and they are perfect at home scoring 16 goals in 4 games. But away they lost 2 and won once. Scoring only 4 goals :sign0065:
I might start a new thread cause this is kinda off topic.
Usually I don't read too much into stats but that is amazing to me.

There's a difference.  Have you played high school or college soccer?  You can tell the difference even when you play in a small stadium with barely anyone watching.  It's the feel of your home field and the fans cheering you on.  Teams also tend to go into away games with a defensive mind-set which often hurts them, but is seen as necessary due to the disadvantage of playing on the road.

Mourinho hasn't lost a home game in 9 years, so there's definitly a lot to it.

What a crock of shit! Cant believe Tottenham knocked out Milan when they were getting raped at home so badly and just resorted to parking the bus and holding on to there goal from the first leg i hope the next team will destroy them hate it when teams do that reminds me of the Time when Rangers beat Fiorentina by playing defensivly and winning on penalties.
