What sacrifices you have to make if you want to be a pro soccer player? Also, have any professional soccer players been rejected by teams before (i.e they didn't make a certain tryout and still became pro after)? thanks
-
I think Luca Toni got noticed late.. same thing with Henrik Larson i think.. and I don't think you need to sacrifice too much as long as you're good enough, it's all up to practise practise and practise.. but then again, that all depends on exactly how good you wanna get, there are many levels of proffessionality
-
you have to sacrifice your sweat, tears and blood, literally, there will be rejections, there will be injuries, and you will have to give it your all every time, the way i get to train at top level every time is, i set my mind to my life goal which is to be a pro footballer, and in my mind whenever i train, i train because this is my only option, its the only thing i know how to do, its what i love, and its what i want to do for the rest of my life.
You have to learn to accept rejections, because believe me there will be many, no matter how good you are. the important thing to keep in mind when you get rejected is "im going to prove them wrong" i got rejected after doing a try out for a pro team hear last year, and the first day i just felt like my world came crashing down on me, i started thinking that i would never make it, i started thinking that i wasent good enough, but i made myself snap out of it, and i decided to take another aproach on the subject and just train and practice as hard as i possibly cud, and thats what makes you great, never giving up, thats the most important thing.
Im going to tell you about what was probably the worst time of my life
it started january 2007, i was playing a game in my school, and i started to run with the ball, and then i tried to hit the ball sideways towards the goalpost, and then i felt a Crack, and i felt the bones in my right knee go out of place and then crack back in to place, i immediately lost the habitabilitie to bend my knee, and i was scared out of my mind, the director of the school had to take me home, and all the way home, all i could think about was "i ruined my chances of being a pro", and i ended up having partial rip in the crossed ligaments, and it took me about 4 months to heal, and during does 4 months i was so miserable, but i diddent give up because of that, i focused on getting better and being able to play again, and thats what i did, i healed to 110% and getting that injury thought me a life lesson, it thought me that i am not bullet proof, it thought me that if i want to be a pro i have to take care of myself.
The most important things to keep in mind if you want to be a Pro are:
You have to know that you are good, you have to believe in yourself, you have to be determined to accomplish your goal, you have to keep getting up no matter how many times you fall down, and Never give up no matter how many times your rejected.

Yes. Many.
You don't neccessarily have to know that you are good. You have to be very, very good. At the highest level, you have to be a relatively flawless player.
-
you dont have to be flawless, every player has flaws, your only human after all, but you have to be great in the position you choce, for example: im a great striker and goalscorer, and whenever i have the ball its a goal oportunity, but im not very good at defending, but it dosent matter cuz i dont ned to defend as a striker, to be a pro you have to be great at what you do, but you cant be a amazing goalscorer but not know how to pass a ball or control a pass either, its a mix of a bit of every position and a LOT of YOUR position
-
I have always wondered what it takes too :dontknow:
-
obviously appart from skills it takes luck also

Skill is all you need. And a bit of brains.

im guessing even you know thats not true, you can be the most skilled footballer in the world and get injured before ever turning pro and thats the end of it, you need luck, theres loads of skilled kids in the world and kids that learnet everything they know by kicking a ball around in the streets, and yet most of them never become pro,s

Did you think that I meant that every professional player must be superman?

in person we could have a 10 hour long football chat if you wanted, but what i already said is pretty much all you need to be a pro:
To recap:
Skills, heart, determination, love for what you do, knowing that your good, luck and never giving up

Does Ronaldo know how to defend?
Does Pele Know how to defend?

-
52 goals right.... All big clubs would be after you then :bs:
-
Does Ronaldo know how to defend?
Does Pele Know how to defend?
yes.
I can't say I'm 100% sure about Pele, but you're not Pele my dear friend

true...and soccer in the 1960s was way different. If you wanna play high level soccer nowadays, you have to play defense on offense and pressure the ball.

hahahahahaha that was brilliant but there's one thing that's wrong with it... actually two things
1) last part is a lie
2) it's spelled you're or you are

last part is not a lie actually, i played defence for about 1 year, midfield for almost 2 years, and i had a crazy Oliver Kahn Fan thing, during the 2002 WC so i was a goalkeeper for almost 1 year, until i snapped out of it and became a striker
-

u wanna know a player that got rejected and is now professional, well I read that luke young (aston villa) got rejected from the watford youth academy when he was a teen but then went back the following year and got accepted. Can I ask a question of my own, what sort of age to you have to get noticed at to even stand a chance of becoming a pro??
-
your age depends on where you live
-
There was a Serbian kid that was only 9 when he got picked up by a German youth side. Then there are the late bloomers that don't get into the professional game until their 20s. It just depends.
-
I would sacrify my Monta ball to make it pro.
-
I would sacrifice YOU to make it pro
-
You need luck,For me,I live in India,Where football is not a recognized sport,For me to become a pro,Is gonna be extremely hard,But I'll still train,I may get chances. There are unfortunate people like me,Who play well,But dont get opportunities.
-
just bitch to your parents and tell them to move to Britain
-
just bitch to your parents and tell them to move to Britain
It's not so easy,Cause we'll have to convert money to Pounds,And we'll be like beggars there.
And I cant bitch to my parents.
-
oh true...my Indian friends tell me stories about the vaunted severity of their parents
-
I would sacrifice YOU to make it pro
Why thank you, but probably even then you couldn't make it pro.

I would sacrifice anything to be a pro,I wish I had opportunities..

i had opportunities and never used them. i was called by HSV to play in the 93 team and came to late to the training :saywhat: it was like the opportunity of my life to join the best team in hamburg. i could also join the team where my brother plays, never really wanted  . i feel so bad for people who has no opportunities, i wish i could give them my opportunities :cursing:

But you still need to be lucky. Someone has to discover your talent. And the biggest problem for Indians is racism. No offence but there is loads of racial discrimination in many places. I watched the movie Goal(Indian) and realized this. Ronaldinho was picked up from the streets.
You have to be discovered. And you need cash to go to the clubs.

play with heart and play for your dreams. I play every practice and game like its my last and A scout is watching. As some1 said you'll get kicked , shoved, and slapped around and beaten to sheit. Thats y to become a footballer u must give up nearly evrything. C.ronaldo played for portugal the day after his father died, he scored 2 goals against Russia. You have to give up ur time and do everything that is in ur power to be #1 on the team
that is what u have to give up
-

really, where u live cuz i have a few friends that play for them, (didnt make it this yr)

totally agree !!!nice said dude
i want it SO MUCH to become a pro that i would give EVERYTHING to manage to play in a professional team...thats why this summer i 'm gonna train really hard to gain speed but mostly strength(because the championship where i play has finished so there is no training with the team,so i 'm gonna train alone),in order to be as better as possible and i wish i 'll get opportunities to become a professional football player...
