Wow, Ramadan is this soon? Exactly how important is it? In 8 days theres a new Irish tv programme starting, a reality TV show about hot girls who want to become Pro models... I dont know much about Islam, would that be on par in terms of importance? Coz im really looking forward to this show

Ramadan is a month when, each day, the muslims don't eat, drink, smoke and have sex, from the sunrise to the sunset. And each year, the beginning of Ramadan is moved of 11 days (last year it started on 1st September)
Hope to have helped you

Exclusive: I Can Keep Fasting In Ramadan Even When I Am Playing – Fredi Kanoute
Fredi explains how he makes the seemingly impossible a reality during a certain month each year...
To be tremendously fit is a must for all professional footballers: a demand that leads some Muslim players to forgo the duty of fasting during Ramadan, preferring to fulfill their obligation when the football season ends. However, for Sevilla’s Freddie Kanoute, this is not the case.
The former Tottenham Hotspur striker believes it is possible for a modern footballer to remain in peak physical condition during the holy month.
The likes of Kanoute, along with Real Madrid's Mahamadou Diarra, Lassana Diarra, and Karim Benzema, are the talk of football world as doctors work around the clock to formulate a routine in order to keep them hydrated during the fasting process.
And as Spanish tabloids splash headlines about the fasting month and debates rage about whether players should even be allowed to fast and play during Ramadan - Kanoute insists he just wants to get on with it.
“I try to respect my faith and follow it as best I can,” Kanoute told Goal.com.
“It is sometimes harder to keep the fast because here in the south of Spain it is very hot, but I can do it, thank God.
“There are many Muslim footballers who people just do not know about in England in Spain, France and in many other leagues too. But having faith and practicing Ramadan is not something they wish to tell the world about.
“Personally, having faith helps my football and football helps me to be healthy and strengthens me. There is no conflict because people who know about Islam, they know that fasting empowers and does not weaken the Muslim.”
While Barcelona's fans are wondering if the likes of Eric Abidal, Seydou Keita and Yaya Toure - all Muslims - will be fasting, Real Madrid fans know of the importance their Muslim players - especially Mahamadou Diarra - place in their religion and his traditions.
Respect | Mahamadou Diarra
“Every coach has respected my decision,” says Diarra on his Real Madrid profile page.
“They are difficult days during which one needs to eat, but it only lasts one month. I have another ten to play well.”
The Sevilla and Real Madrid players stance on Ramadan is shared by eminent specialist - Doctor Yacine Zerguni, a member of the FIFA and CAF Sports Medical Committees.
Zerguni collaborated with F-marc, the FIFA Medical Assessment and Research Centre, in a study on the effects of observing Ramadan for Muslim players: two professional football clubs in Algeria agreed to undergo biological, clinical and psychological tests before, during and after the month of Ramadan.
The study constituted a world first in this particular area and formed the foundations for scientific analysis of the potential impact of Ramadan on player performance.
“This month of physical and mental self discipline, which must also be free from any unhealthy or aggressive behaviour,” Zerguni told Goal.com, when asked if Ramadan was compatible with the practice of top-level football.
“Ramadan is intended be a period of internal purification and meditation; a period of regeneration. It is far from harmful. Indeed, the psychological study of the personality formed an integral part of our research project.
"
Ramadan is intended be a period of internal purification and meditation; a period of regeneration. It is far from harmful.
"
“And although many players who were tested could not adapt to playing whilst fasting, one has to remember that it is highly likely that the effects of Ramadan are also linked to the spiritual qualities and physical capabilities of each athlete.
“Therefore certain players who continuously observe Ramadan when playing: their body can adapt because they are used to it - but many players can get tired. Players will have to work on effective pre- and post-match routines that will help them conserve energy and strength.”
Making a difference | Kanoute
Both Mahamadou Diarra and Kanoute place particular emphasis on the charity work during Ramadan. They donate a large portion of their earnings to charities in Mali with the hope of building a better future for their fellow citizens.
For Kanoute, a chance to “make a difference during Ramadan” is something very close to his heart.
“During Ramadan I give my all for my club and try not to let my team-mates and the fans down," he continued. "Everyone here has been very good to me and they understand. They also understand that during Ramadan you have a chance to reach out to those in need.
“For me, my charity is very important. I wanted to help with charity work for some time and a few years ago I went ahead with it and The Mali Children’s Village cares for orphaned and vulnerable children. There is a very big need to work with children here, especially orphans.
“My father was born a Muslim but as an orphan, he didn’t really know a lot about it, but he did try to teach me a few things. Children are our future and we should always try to ensure they are safe and have a good upbringing.”
LEGEND

Kanute is a good guy. Good luck to him and Sevilla. I used to fast when I used to play for a Basketball team, I wasn't too hard since we used sub often. Soccer is a different story. I always played soccer fasting but never competitively.

If you take a flight to the other side of the earth, in the middle of the day and lets say you arrive to the other side when morning just has broken (for them). Will you have to fast double as much?
-
You don't have to fast if you are traveling
Nor do you have to the day that you landed and the day after until you have properly settled
those traveling are exempt, but must make up the days they miss.
-
Fast is suspended if you travel more than 45 km.....but there are two possibilities
1-you go to anywhere but come back to homeown before noon.
2-you go to travel after noon and then you may iftar at anywhere on time.
-
I see.
So Allah condones travelling.
Interresting.
Are there any other scenarios where you don't have to fast?
-

Hahahahaha
That's funny
Are there any other scenarios where you don't have to fast?
Fasting is mandatory on every Muslim who is sane, adult, able and resident. The following exemptions apply:
1. the insane;
2. children who are not adolescent yet;
3. the elderly and chronically ill for whom fasting is unreasonably strenuous; Such persons are required to feed at least one poor person every day in Ramadan for which he or she has missed fasting.
4. pregnant women and nursing may postpone the fasting at a later time;
5. the ill and the travellers can also defer their fasting.
6. Women during the period of menstruation or of post childbirth confinement. Fasting during these periods is forbidden and should be made up later, a day for a day.

ramadan mubarak

well i know a girl suspect here lying being muslim.
she is from pakistan an she says she is sunni. i ask here about here religion and what the koran says. she says she is not read it and knows much about it. well i say how can you say you are muslim when you dont know about the history. she say she belive in allah, yet i never seen here pray, wich she claims. i seen here smoke, and she says she wants to do ramadan. she cant explain diffrences between shia and sunni, and still claims to belive. she she say its gone through generations being muslim and thats why she claims the faith.
what makes you a muslim?
is it to say you belive or knowing why you belive?
for me it is more about knowing the history and from there making the belive in god, rather just claim being a muslim whenever you feel like it bcouse of herritage.
it's kinda irritating me that she claims being, but not knowing why she belives, history and so on.. for me she should know litlebit more than allah and profet to calle oneself muslim..thoughts?

That depends.
most people would have seen it as a question, but then there's these dumb people with absolutely no trace of a brain like you who has to figure out the questino firstly and by that gets confused.
But really: it depends.

Understood.

Intention is stronger than action but it doesn't seem sincere (from the story your telling)
But like Omar said only god can judge
Cause intentions aren't visible to the human eye

When applying Islamic Laws(the shariah) she will be considered a muslim, for example the matters of property, marriage etc.
But if you are asking if her claim is enough to please Allah, that is a totally different thing and her chance of making it to heaven or hell is equal to any other muslim. lol i had no idea shia/sunni would come up on this forum(turns up everywhere), i too am a pakistani and religion is a very cultural thing as 98% are muslims here. and as far as knowledge is concerned, you are right, majority of muslims call themselves muslims because of there little knowledge. No big deal..its the sad truth.(not counting myself out)

Well here is the thing about the Muslims nowadays
there are 1.6 billion muslims around the world supposedly
but how many of them actually represent Islam? :dontknow:
the problem is there are a lot of sects out there
some extremists and some opposite of extreme like that girl lol
but as we said only God can judge
Intention is higher than action, but you must represent your intention with your actions
there can't be intention and no action
that's one of the wrong sects of Islam. they say it's enough to believe. if you believe you can sin as much as possible, as long as you believe... lol
anyways, Ramadan seems easy nowadays
I'm trying to freestyle everyday
all I can say is, I've seriously lost my touch
and my leg quickness is like that of azun 4 years ago and I'm 20 cm shorter than him

What if you're wrong about god and you end up going through all this stuff for nothing?
Do you do it because you think god wants you to or do you do it because it makes you feel good?
Also in what way do you picture heaven, is it like a paradise were you live forever?
The reason i'm asking is because i'm really interested in religion. I'm an athiest though but I respect and understand why people would believe in religion, though in my eyes god and heaven doesn't make any sense what so ever to me.

With all the facts and signs Allah has given us, no one should doubt their belief in God. If there is this doubt, then your faith is weak. there is no place for doubt in the belief in God in Islam. ;) We also believe because if we don't, there isn't really any purpose for living innit? all of us instead should just do suicide since there isn't a purpose for living. Our purpose is to please Allah and enter paradise
We do it because God wants us to do it and we do it so we don't get punished and enter paradise. Allah says this world is just a test to see who are the true inheritors of heaven
we can't really picture paradise since God tells us it's nothing like this world. although there are some signs in the Quran. The main thing is, you'll live forever there without aging and without sweating or going to the bathroom and whatever you want it'll appear in front of you.
here is a beautiful hadith of the Prophet about the last man to enter paradise insha Allah

I see, but don't you think living forever would get a bit boring in the end? Even if you never have to struggle for anything and get everything exactly as you want, imo it would get extremely boring. After being alive for one billion years in the paradise, done exactly everything that you can do it would be like.. no fun because if you never have to work for it, it defeats the purpose of having it all. Half of the fun for me of achieving something good like freestyle for example, is the road towards it. But yeah I understand that you're trying to achieve the paradise through doing these tasks now in real life :).
If you live forever were you can achieve everything you ever wanted, what more would there be to achieve? Since everyone lives perfect lives in the "paradise" there would neither be anyone to look up at since everyone are the same and can get what they want.
Kind of like celebrities that have so much money and they don't know what to do with it. So they start going on drugs because drugs causes your brain to give you satisfaction.
It's just what i think, for me I would never want to live in a world were anyone can get everything without any effort.

I don't understand how life on earth is satisfying enough.
Well Royal must have a problem, seeing as he's constantly searching for hot babes on the internet to jack off to. Normal, happy people would seek IRL babes.
Lol at even having to say IRL babes.

is Ramadan supposed to be a way of proving faith to allah?

yes I do have a problem
I'm not perfect
I'm not even a good Muslim
I just know things
and a man is a man, and women are some of his desires
only a good muslim can control his desires
I'm not even supposed to listen to music for God's sake

as for seafc
Allaah legislated fasting for gaining taqwaa, "O you who believe, fasting has been prescribed upon you as it has been prescribed upon those before you, so that you may attain taqwaa." (meaning of SoraatulBaqarah (2):183) Taqwaa in this case means to make a shield between oneself and Allaah’s anger and Hellfire.
also to draw closer to Allah by doing good deeds.
so yes that is what Ramadan is for
here are some benefits of Ramadan

If life in this world was anything in comparison to heaven, then yes it would be tooooooo boring
but like I said, it's a totally different place, the stuff there are supposedly unimaginable
seriously speaking, I think most ppl if not all would desire a place with peace and no one to bother them and just relax, instead of work in the city or farms.
well, there would be more to do than just relax at paradise :)

obviously there are levels in paradise
the best muslims will be near the Prophet
and the last muslim well, I posted the vid
there's a hadith where the last person to enter will have palaces as grand and as big as the 10 biggest and most grand palaces in this world put together
from islam-qa.com
With regard to numbers, there is one Hell and one Paradise, but each of them has degrees and levels. Paradise is sometimes mentioned in the plural in the Sunnah, but this does not mean that there are several types of Paradise; rather this is indicative of its greatness and the various degrees and levels in it, or it is indicative of the greatness of the reward of the one who enters it, as it says in the hadeeth of Anas ibn Maalik that Umm al-Rubayyi’ bint al-Bara’ , who was the mother of Haarithah ibn Suraaqah, came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and said: O Prophet of Allaah, will you not tell me about Haarithah?” – who had been killed at the battle of Badr by a stray arrow. “If he is in Paradise I will bear it with patience but if it is otherwise then I shall weep long and hard for him.” He said: “O Umm Haarithah, there are gardens in Paradise – according to another report: many gardens – and your son has attained the highest Firdaws.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 2809.
We know of no limit to the number of degrees and levels in Paradise. It was said that their number is equal to the number of verses in the Qur’aan, based on the hadeeth of ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Amr, who said that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “It will be said to the companion of the Qur’aan: ‘Recite and rise in status as you used to recite in the world, and your position will be at the last verse you recite.’” Narrated by Abu Dawood, 1646; al-Tirmidhi, 2914; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood.

This life is short and it should serve a purpose or else if there no after life this one is useless and we should all go do what ever we want
Kind of like celebrities that have so much money and they don't know what to do with it. So they start going on drugs because drugs causes your brain to give you satisfaction.

In Islam wealth has to be shared which make the money worth something. 2.5% of your yearly income (TAX FREE and fully yours) has to be paid to a charity for the poor
These celebrities get greedy, and want more and more every time. Islam teaches discipline (contrary to the form you hear on the news).
If you live forever were you can achieve everything you ever wanted, what more would there be to achieve? Since everyone lives perfect lives in the "paradise" there would neither be anyone to look up at since everyone are the same and can get what they want.

Paradise isn't same for everyone there are many many level in which each is better than the one before it. The stronger your faith and higher your status
The real hard work is in this life and is mainly selfcontrol (mainly actions and thoughts)
is Ramadan supposed to be a way of proving faith to allah?
Ramadan is a time inwhich Muslim can further their reward, so to speak, and improve their faith.
People see it as starving your self, but it's also a control of actions (aggressive and abusive), thoughts and a time in which the benefits are far greater than any other
I'm more than happy to answers any question you got (TO THE BEST OF MY ABILITY)
